Minor differences are probably the result of those initial settings. I generally left them blank. I played around with a few minor setting changes and didn't notice any difference, but I didn't give it much thought.

It makes sense that gender being opposite would have the effect of reducing similarity and increasing complementarity. I suspect a female who filled in the same answers as me would, in real life, still be quite dissimilar.

40% or so similarity could probably be classified as the reasonable base line for 2 very dissimilar people because... in order to achieve 0% similarity you one person would have to select (most like me, or least like me) answers and the other person would have to select the exact opposite.

OK. I just did a test, where candidate 1 selected all answers as 'fairly accurate' and candidate 2 selected all answers as 'fairly inaccurate'. The result was that both candidates were 42% similar according to the test (but realistically dissimilar), even though they are quite different people (candidate 1 for example is moderately assertive and moderately introverted, and candidate 2 is unassertive and extroverted but only moderately so.).

In other words, 50% or below similarity is quite dissimilar. Also I noticed that the percentages seem to change every once in awhile, I wonder why that is (I have a guess, just not too sure about it).
