Hi everybody! :hello:
Just last week I took an online personality test for the firs time ever and tested as INTP. My reaction when reading the INTP profile was similar to that of other posters - I was amazed at how accurately it described me.
I've always considered myself an open-minded person, and always tried to be aware of the differences in people's behavior. Finding out about MBTI types provided me with a new insight that was badly needed.
So, let's see... I'm a 24-year-old electronic engineer, currently working at a research center as part of a PhD scholarship program. Sometimes I wish I had studied music, though. I'm sort of a frustrated guitar player (never got around to practice as much as needed). I like rock-oriented music (blues, classic rock, rock'n'roll, hard rock, etc.) classical (Bach), some "eclectic" country (Bela Fleck, Hellecasters), and try to stay away from pop as much as I can, but sometimes exposure is just too much...
As I'm new to all this MBTI stuff, currently my head is saturated with thoughts and ideas, which I hope to be able to put down in writing soon so I can share them with you and hopefully sort them out. I would like to learn more about this, so if you guys have any suggestions (literature, advice), I'd appreciate it.
I don't know what else to tell you, feel free to ask any questions you want... soon it will be my turn! :)

yeye It is from a song by Juan Gabriel, "Te Sigo Amando." It used to be on a soap opera, one that made me sad! It was about this guy that kept this girl that he loved locked in his mansion so she wouldn't leave him. It was sad because at the end he saw clearly his mistakes, but it was too late cuz he was SHOT and was gonna die!
The song is really good.

For MBTI related stuff, I recommend Gifts Differing by Isabel Briggs Myers, and Peronality Type: An Owner's Manual by Lenore Thomson. I started with a book called Introvert Advantage by Marti which lead me to everything including this forum, you might also be interested in that.
Oh yeah, welcome.

Melody, DSP is a very interesting field. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be working on that anytime soon...
Avengardh, thanks, Spain is nice. Life is quiet over here. Can't complain.
flan2dave, thanks for the info, I'll try to get those books.
Juanga???? You guys are noveleros???? WTF??? :sombrero:

Hehe! ;P
Spanish mixed in with English still makes me laugh...and no...but Corazón Salvaje was mighty good...and the d00d playing the pirate-person died just a while ago of a heart attack and he was so healthy...so sad...
Have you seen a lot of Gaudi's architecture???

Same here. 100% Mexican, and I like Spaniards. They make good movies. At least ones called 'Lucia y el sexo.'

Although I am technically Spaniard (I just recently obtained citizenship) I still consider myself Venezolano. Yes, I come from the land of "culebrones"...
As I have come to learn after living here for little more than a year, people in Latin America have lots of things in common with Spaniards. Affinity for novelas being one of them.
I've never been a big fan of novelas though, so I can't really maintain an opinionated conversation on the subject. I think I only followed two venezuelan novelas when I was a kid... and a couple of others from Brazil, but that's about it.
Oh, about Gaudi... I haven't had the chance to visit Barcelona yet, but I definitely plan on going in the near future...

Welcome!
It takes a while to digest what it means to be an INTP in this world. However, the moment you trust and go through the process, life will become sweeter. Through maturity in this new discovery, you will have mercy on people because everyone can't be superior like us. :D
Cheers,
Hera

Uy! De Venezuela, I had some friends from there ^_^
Arepas rock!
I really like the novelas that take place in the past, Mexico seems to be good with those (but then again, I only watch them sometimes...when I remember to or when mom tells me it's on, like, Gitanas in Telemundo, but it gets boring), but I have also seen a couple of Brazillian ones too, they are good.
To tell you the truth I have never seen one entirely, I see parts of it, but not all of it.
And yeah, another friend of mine is in España and she keeps repeating that what they speak there is the real español/castellano, and what Mexico speaks is just a dialect. I say...then I speak Mexican ^-^
And Melodys, yeah, I think I saw that one...but Abre los Ojos was good too, then Tom Cruise ruined it...

Yeah, people here speak differently, but it's just a different pronunciation/accent, and some word constructions are different too. I think it's an exaggeration though to say that people in Latin America speak "just a dialect". It would be like saying that Americans speak a dialect and the only English is spoken in England...

I know what you mean when you say that understanding types was badly needed. It's been a saving grace for making me feel less like an outcast, and more comfortable with myself.
I'm a bass player myself. I used to be in a blues guitar/bass/drum band but got tired of the smokey clubs. Music is wonderful.

[ And then again, millions of Englishmen and women speak equally awful dialects indigenous to England; as a general rule the Midland areas vie for the ugliest sounds, but the further north you go, the weirder it gets ].

Let's see:
1) Discussion of English accents.
2) Thread title contains the word "Spain". It rains mainly on the plain in Spain.
3) Now try not to think of the musical/movie My Fair Lady.
