Okay, a game I found on some forums once, in which you take two well known characters, and have them battle to the death. There is only one rule: the character must be strictly cannon. Everyone can join in on the battle.

Okay, here's the first match:

R2D2 vs. Skynet (no terminators)

Who would win?

Skynet. They've got time travel, and there's no precedent for either time travel or good luck on the part of the droid's creators.

Is this how the game works?

R2D2!

He has uncanny luck, therefore, he can not be defeated. He also has those nifty little tools that allow him to hack into any computer system. He could reprogram Skynet to act like Jar Jar binks.

OMG! I feel geeky now.

Also R2D2.
If Skynet has no terminators, what does it have? Nothing. You only specified that Skynet can't have terminators, so does that mean that R2D2 can enlist help? He gets all the Jedis he wants with a few video clips, and they beat the crap out of Skynet, and would even if it did have terminators.

What about...
Johnny Quest (and gang) vs. Tom Swift (and gang)?
Things to consider...
Hadji is a prince. What does TS have? A fat cowboy who can't cook.
Bandit is immortal. Can YOU beat an immortal dog?
Race is ex-secret agent. TS does gov. contracts.

But the droid must both reach Skynet to do its work and we must also assume the droid's ability to hack and reprogram Skynet. Plus, in all the cases where the droid reached its goal, it was aided either by another droid or a human. Without help, the droid would likely not reach Skynet. Skynet need not be in any proximity to the droid to blink it out of existence due to its time travel technology and manipulation of history.

Skynet has always done a lousy job killing its intended victim(s), but it has shown successful kills. So I still say Skynet wins.

Skynet may not have terminators, but it still has robots with guns...and R2D2, and all other robots and humans in both movies, have been shown to get hit and shut down.

Before or after "Judgement Day"?

If before, Skynet has a large array of tactical nuclear weapons.

R2D2 has a little prong that shoots lightening.

If after, Skynet has little to protect itself and R2D2 needs only to find it.

Yep. Good answers on the other posts. No verdict... yet. Here's a hint: creativity wins the game.

O.K., then. Skynet turns the odds on its head by bringing a Jawa through time to zap R2D2, since Skynet itself is inept at killing it's intended victims...

Hmm... and R2D2 has no C3P0 to get him out.
Okay, Skynet wins this battle.
As the winner, you get to choose the next fight.

Let's really ramp up the fun and go with the U.S. Military vs. Osama Bin Laden... ...

Hmm... what kind of battleground? And does OBL have al-queda to back him up?

Johnny

The battleground is apparently unknown, and OBL has whatever his fanaticism grants him.

US, all they have to do is find him, and they would overpower him with superior firepower. Using black ops budgets and counterintelligence, the US will infiltrate OBL's network and eventually find out where he is. Of course, OBL is quite sickly looking, so he may die before they find him. Actually, I wouldn't be suprised if GWB has him in custody already, but doesn't want to release the news until the day before election day.

So OBL is killed for the crime of being one of the self-confessed masterminds of the 9/11 attacks. Will he really be dead, or will his fanaticism continue to keep him alive until the entire US Military is destroyed?

Case in point: he is currently in hiding, and possibly very ill and/or dead already. Yet we continue to search for him. Nor did he actually attack us personally here in the States, but his confession has us of the mind that he did kill our people here and must pay for this.

Come on, OBL can't be that tough...can he? LOL

Actually, he denied it.

[ Unless you're in the habit of accepting pop-videos as reflecting a true portrayal of reality ].
