Shouldn't they have scheduled an event at 4:20pm? Something like a silent candle ceremony with green candles rolled in a large Zig Zags. Wow, maybe I should have organized the event. Anyways, see you guys there.

my question...does anyone really think that these protests on a city/state level do anything? The laws against marijuana use are Federal Laws....even if a state were to make marijuana use in some form legal...you still *technically* could be arrested by a federal agent. California has experienced this time and time again with raids on medical facilities.

I'm not saying that i'm anti marijuana, nor am i saying i'm pro marijuana....(i still am an INTP after all). You're allowed to protest/demonstrate about whatever you want. i will never condemn someone for exercising their rights. I'm just saying that i, personally, wouldn't waste my time on this issue, as i don't see any changes in the coming years.

Some do, and some don't. Personally, I don't care, but witnessing controversy is sometimes very entertaining; hence my interest in going.
Hell...I want them to legalize it and then tax the shit out of it; but they won't.

Timothy Leary used to show up at the Chicago protests when he was alive. I've been to a few, looking to score. It used to be a bigger event and less tied down. Lots of undercover cops there now. Smaller crowd.

Cinco De Mayo (http://www.districtdelsol.com/cinco.html) is that weekend as well
10 AM - 8 PM on May 6.

I'm thinking
Marijuana: 2:30pm - 5:00pm
Cinco De Mayo: 5:00pm - 8:00pm

First we deal in marijuana related activities then we stand around limitless supplies of Pozole, Tamales, Papatzules, Quesadillas, and Enchiladas

...hrm

...I think I know why they picked this date

They used to be in Lincoln Park, when it was a big thing, and the last I looked they had moved it up to an area near the Montrose lakeshore park area. A few local heavy metal bands playing. Nothing to write home about.

Thanks! No!

People were getting high, fucking risky if you ask me.

You may not be able to tell in these pictures but it is a fairly small park right in the middle of downtown Minneapolis and connected to the college I teach at (another reason why I decided not to get high).

Police were out there sitting in their cars observing while people would casually look around then pull out a joint and pass it through to their friends.

It wasn't really a protest, or at least not how I pictured. It was an event where you bring a cooler, blanket, book and just chill out in the park for a day with a bunch of stoners.

Yeah, it would be risky. I don't know what your local laws are like. I did hear that in some Western town (maybe Boulder CO?) they changed the law so that the penalty for possession is a verbal reprimand.

Still, nice shoes.

Well...I knew there was a reason why I felt your presence (I thought it was just the second hand fumes I was consuming).
By the way, what's it going to take to get you out of your house and to a meeting of the minds?

I will probably go to the next meet-up, especially if it's in/near mpls.

Yeah, I wouldn't be looking at the stage...but stare at the guys head all day. It reminds of this exotic bird with a strand of feather strung across its head.

They have one of these in D.C. around 4th of july called the 'smoke in'. I went back in late 80's, at that time they were busting people and thieves using distraction techniches abounded, and at midnight the permit expired so the police came in on horse back and kicked anyones ass who didnt run away. One of the worst days of my life and never went back.

One of the problems I've come across, when hanging out with self-proclaimed "stoner" enthusiasts, is that they don't tend to remember the recent conversations we've had. They'll pipe up all earnest with some story they told me last time I saw them: zzzz, boring.

Redundancy is not sexy unless, of course, it's directly correlated or translated into creative and sincere declarations of affection or admiration for me.

I'm always in the mood for / receptive to those.

Yeah, those people are a little too enthusiastic about the drug
