Greets,
I've been browsing the forums the last few days in what little spare time I have.
Great stuff!
I tested as INTP maybe twelve years ago, and promptly forgot about it, and "refound" myself about a year ago from yet another psych battery I regularly undergo (more on that later).
It's amazingly accurate, I was dumbfounded, so like all good INTPs, I regularly poke around and research it.
So I Found this place a few days ago. Never knew there were quite so many similar as me (just from reading various posts), I've always considered myself quirky and unique.
My backround: I'm a 22 year old male. I'm a cryptologist, and I'm currently in Japan. I have strong experience in satellite communications (a hobby), and various computer-related activities.
I regularly get psych tests and polygraphs (because of my security clearance), and normally I'm listed in thw "twisted" category, but I suppose they decided to try a new analysis scheme, because they put me as INTP, so I guess I'm not twisted any more! I'm pretty intrigued with learning about things and people, so here's to something to keep me occupied for some time!
Hope to harass some of you in the future!

I work in an IT security group (identity management) although we're more consumers of encryption software than actually working on the algorithms. Encryption has always interested me, especially since running into Bruce Schneier's books.
Being an INTP does mean feeling alone in most of the world. This place is an interesting (and welcome) change from that.
BTW, I like your quote. Einstein is probably my favorite INTP.

Japan? That is sweet!
I've always been fascinated by Japan. Probably from my serial obbsession as a kid: Godzilla and ninjas. Ninjas are totally sweet.

Holy crap, you tested at age 10??? :o I wouldn't think they'd do such things. Although I wish I'd known what I know about me now back then. Fighting who you are can be the hardest battle. I first found out at 23, maybe, but it took years for me to follow up and learn more about my peeps.
Anyway, Welcome!
I had a friend who did crypt stuff but I think he was in Maryland. Literally in the earth, several stories underground. He used to send me all this secrect code stuff, see if I could figure it out. Kinda quality control. Just kiddin'!
That's interesting to know that the govt (United States'?) labels you as "twisted," but then turns around and trusts you with its most closely guarded secrets. "You can just forget about showing up Saturday night for my party. But would you mind designing some launch sequences?"
This world, I tell ya -

The NSA headquarters is in Maryland, outside of D.C. For decades the government refused to acknowledge the NSA even existed.

Dude, that is cool.
How is Japan treating you and how do you like the language?
I am taking Japanese 101 right now, I can only saw a few things.
Another example of what the world wants, INTPs :D

Ah, a cryptologist, that's pretty neat since I find cryptology fairly interesting :)

Another Japan-addict here as well. :hello:
Only I believe that ninja's origin from China.
But Japan just rocks, the language, the anime/manga, the civilization (although a bit harsh with the perfection), the traditions, the nature, the history, the beverages, anything but the food actually :D
Some food's nice though, but mostly not my taste, shame..
Anyhow, welcome! :)

Howdy. It's good to see another INTP. I would like to know how you got professionally involved with cryptology. My father was a cryptographer for the military, which got me interested, but I'm not going that route. Downloaded some weak crypto programs for windows to work the algorithm with a calculator, and PGP is about as far as I got. I'll try not to pick your brain too much. In any case, welcome to the forum.

Hah,
Regarding Japan, I'm just miserable at languages. Really I am. I took a language aptitude battery, and my results were about a 15%. I've learned maybe eight words so far here, after being here eight months. The food is excellent, but the people are pretty mean where I am (Aomouri prefecture). There are quite a few "NO AMERICAN ALLOWED" signs everywhere.
NSA HQ is at Fort George G. Meade (We just call it the Fort). It's an interesting place to work, but because of Secure Compartmented Information, you really do not know enough to make anything other than educated guesses on information. It's also a gigantic pain in the arse to get in, out, and through there.
I usually don't do the actual cryptanalysis, I'm more into the equipment. I technically work for Raytheon (at least my paychecks say so) but I am thrown around the world for various projects. I've been to Diego Garcia, Iceland, Scotland, Guam, Africa, Here, there, everywhere.
I was just picked up by Raytheon right out of college, I didn't do mathematics, I was biochemistry. But here I am. I love it.

Are they anti-American, or anti-military?
