View Full Version : Confess your hidden love for a member

So the divorce thread is a real downer. Let's, uh, try and get some love in the air, shall we?
If you've fallen in love with someone on the forum, here's your big chance to confess it. In public. In this thread. So everyone knows.
Here's a wubbie because, you know. . . Threads on love need them.
This thread is just going to take off. I can feel it.

That is correct. No situations past or present are in question. Just wanted to throw that last sentence in, now that my feelings of "like" have been made public. To be honest, I'm not sure that I'm much of a moderator to begin with. Then INTP is strong in this one. Not much desire to regulate or moderate.
And now ladies and gentleman, Mr. Burt Bacharach!
"What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It?s the only thing that there?s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No not just for some but for everyone.
Lord, we don?t need another mountain,
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross,
Enough to last till the end of time.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It?s the only thing that there?s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone.
Lord, we don?t need another meadow
There are cornfields and wheat fields enough to grow
There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine
Oh listen, lord, if you want to know.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It?s the only thing that there?s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone.
No, not just for some, oh, but just for everyone."
Something just made this post bizarrely appropriate in my mind.

I mean - I know I love my little girl - and my nephews - but I cannot say I am sure I have loved anyone outside the context of family. I cared for my ex - but I never felt I could call that love. So... I like some members here - admittedly the female members get more of my attention - cause you know I am hetero - but love??? Or even like??? WTF? I am going to hurl

Hooters has some of the best chicken wings you can buy across the nation. Sure, there are little "Mom&Pop" places that are better, but its the only real national chain with awesome wings. Hooters Girls are just the gimmick to bring people in. McDonalds has a Clown, Hooters has boobs.
And... A web-forum doesn't present people. I might like someone, but until I meet them in real life, I wouldn't say I 'love' someone.

Meshou.
Only for the fact that I know I can't have her. Maybe also, something about her anger being directed at the members that deserve it, and pulling it off, rather than the vituperation descending into lameness.
I know this girl that looks like her, red flowing hair, deep-eyed stare that doesn't waver etc. and the persona she puts forward is very much like the one I glean over teh forum. I was at a social event last night and girl-like-meshou was there as well. She caught me catching jealous furtive glances at her while she was conversing at the other table with 3 lean male French exchange students, and waves and smiles, and she chatted with me for a bit. She even touched my chest when she was explaining how her cat flops onto her chest and smooches against her chin.
"You're so pensive in social situations", she says. "Why is that?".
Not being one to make bullshit up on the spot, I tell the truth. "Social anxiety", I say flatly. "The implicit message I get from others that I have to be as enthusiastic about their small-talk topics to be accepted by them and not having the energy or want to do that". She seemed a little perplexed at that.
The TV was on, and we were half-watching the British lesbian drama Tipping the Velvet. I said that one of the women there was cute because it looked like she was hiding something. "Yeah, an Adam's apple" and the like came the surrounding replies from the males present. Then girl-like-meshou started defending me, so that was nice.
And with that post, I complete my aim of creeping meshou the fuck out. W00t.

I know it may sound strange to the athiest or agnostic, but if you believe that the creator plays an active role in your existence, and you believe it to be subtle or pronounced but have the faith that it is true, and you practice a frequent exchange of your gratitute through prayer, then you are always loved and need not ever feel that you have to go through any trial alone

Why did you have to bring religion into this!? That arguement isn't as strange, as it is invalid. The lack of validity stems from the fact that one of your premises is flawed. When you say that there is and "exchange of gratitude" through prayer... it doesn't make any sense. Prayer is a one-way thing. Sort of like talking to yourself, or keeping a journal. The creator is a figment of your imagination. Thus, the idea that there is an exchange is flawed, b/c you're just 'giving', but not recieving. YOu might have psychologically deluded yourself into thinking that hte creator cares, but there is nothing substantial to back that up. Thus, you can love anything, like a piece of cheese, a statue, or even god... but its not going to reciprocate like another living breathing human or pet can.

I'm not sure why religion got brought into this thread, but I just wanted to propose that perhaps we're not psychologically deulded, but that we (faithful people) simply can't produce anything that would seem substantial to YOU. Our experiences are plenty substantial to us. I can't provide evidence of my experience to you--but I can tell you, no matter how irrational or arational it is, the love of God is a reality for me, and I recieve a hell of a lot more than I give. You can believe it or not, but I think it is presumptuous as hell for people to judge other people's inherently personal experiences as delusions.

I do not endorse religion. Religion often exploits your relationship with the creator.
You know as well as I do that if enough people believe in something, it gives 'life' to it.
Where is Santa or the Easter Bunny, they are not real, but they are revered therefore they are given 'life' and their representations are recognized by many.
These may be examples of false God's but they are well known nonetheless.
Something does not have to acknowledge you in order to exist. Once it has acknowledged you, you just know. I do not wish to go way off topic with the thread, I just wanted to express a thought with some relevance to those who believe, and the solace they enjoy as a result of it. I am truly sorry you do not appreciate this. I would never condemn you for it. There was a time in my life I did not appreciate this. So for the sake of those of you who agree with Pooja, please accept my apology and I will not comment on it again in this thread. PM me on it if you wish.

Wait, who are you actually quoting that from, I have a hunch, but if it's untrue, then the person I think it was will start bitching at me.

That's all.
I don't normally respond to comments like that either, Eileen, but I think you did a wonderful job being tactful with your reply and I want to echo your sentiment. I couldn't have put it better myself.
And okay, since Ape's got the tearful avatar going on, I've GOT HIDDEN LOVE FOR YOU APE BABY!!!! Don't cry! *hugs* And my love for you isn't even hidden in yak shit. It's hidden in lavendar fields under lovely blue skies. :)
 That was so... sweet.

Wiki, sorry if that sounded like an attack-- it really wasn't meant to be. I really do respect your spiritual perspective. I guess I was just starved for a debate, and was overzealous in my response as a result. Anyway, sorry about that  ...
I know you weren't responding to other people with this, but I saw it after my previous post (the Eileen response). Anyway, even if I am butting into your post here, I just wanted to say thanks for clarifying that it wasn't meant to be an attack. Alot of times I don't bring up my faith on this forum b/c I know others are not going to want to hear about it and I do not want to force it down someone's throat so to speak. But, I respect your opinion in both posts, even if I don't personally agree with you b/c of my experiences. Thank you for being transparent here and apologizing and if no one else says it, I wanted to let you know that I appreciated it alot.

In retrospect, I realize that my tenth grade English teacher was really quite good (she was a little old lady), but my only amazing English teacher was a guy. And when I was eighteen, I felt like this:

I had an awesome English teacher in high school. She really instilled a love for literature and writing and she taught grammar properly also. I never had crushes on my high school teachers. Professors on the other hand...

So is it legal for a teacher to hit it if you're legal?

Uh, no.
In fact, when I was twenty-two and teaching a senior English class in which I had a twenty-one year-old student, it would have still been illegal, I'm pretty sure.
I think you have to wait two years before you can date former students, too.

It's not illegal here, but it's grounds for de-registration. legal age=16

To Hell with them! Wait, I had a decent one in high school, but he was a guy. A guy English teacher is like...I'm to tired to invent a simile.A guy english Teacher is like Mr. Wheeler, who, when I first saw him, was talking to a girlfriend and boyfriend getting into a van for a school nature hike. One of his dogs, Chocolate, was also being loaded into the van.
"Nooooo, I'm sitting next to chocolate. HE likes to cuddle." she said, and slammed the door to the van, leaving Cory slack-jawed and frustrated.
"Hey, man, you know what that means."
"Whut?"
"She likes it DOGGY STYLE."
I stood with my mouth hanging open and, being 14, fat and a fundie at the time, attempted to intill guilt into him by boring shame into the back of his head with my piggy little eyes.
I would find out the man was pretty much a walking leer, down to the leisure suits, perm-like hair, and that, as a fact, he'd light up with graduated students.
He taught me how to write. Man was awesome.
 Which character? Humanoid or otherwise?

My 11th grade english teacher was a little older, but she wore black glasses, had nice legs and wore skirts and black nylons a lot.
Fodder for many a teenage fantasy.
She admitted once that she had a crush on a student, but we never found out who it was.
I shit you not, she stopped in the middle of a class of about 15 kids one time, stared me straight in the face and said 'you have the most beautiful eyes.'
Talk about surreal and awkward.

I kid you not, the star trek teacher told my friend he could have some sherbert if he would be quiet for the rest of class(we were working on a paper), then later she asked him if he would share a spoon, he said "no", she walked off annoyed to the office to get a spoon and came back and sat down next to him and they ate sherbert together while everyone watched.
what the fuck.

You should have said, "I need some help studying my anatomy..."
Again, super dork that I am I should have used the art angle in college to get chicks to pose for me, but I just skateboarded and wacked it instead. To this day I still haven't tried the art approach.
I know it would work, but it feels cheap and anyway...
My best one IMO was when I asked this chick if she wanted to come over and drink 40's on my porch.

I think I can safely say my love for most people on this forum is hidden.
You're neat people. I love the phlematics (Lee, Seritonin, Kuranes, Madrigal, Waxwing et all) for qualities I envy.
I like others (Hustler, Zedo, Prettygal, etc) for having pretty, sharp, dancy edges.
Some of the kiddies are awfully cute. Some are fun to spar with. Even the absolute idiots give me a place to spend my boundless, boundless rage. :D
