Hello INTP forum.

I am a 23 year old computer programmer from CT who has been lurking on this board now for the last 3 months or so. I took an MBTI test completely out of curiosity test from a book my girlfriend was reading: Please Understand Me. After completing the test and determining my type I was completely shocked at the accuracy of the INTP type description. It's as if the author was writing about me, then again that seems to be the consensus on this particular thread…

It feels a bit strange to actually be posting something on this forum or any forum for that matter. I have always been fairly active as far as reading forums is concerned, but I have never felt compelled to actively participate.

The past few months I suppose I have been struggling with the whole notion of an INTP and what makes and INTP and am I an INTP. I found this forum the day after I took the test in the book, and researched the topic, took numerous more tests with the same result. I find it difficult to believe that all the billions of people in the world can be lumped into 16 specific categories. But then at the same time how could this description for the INTP type so accurately describe me?

I suppose I am rambling. I probably never posted anything before due to the fact that I absolutely abhor writing. It is very frustrating attempting to organize my thoughts into a cohesive whole so that others may be able to understand them let alone myself… My thoughts constantly contradict themselves making it very difficult for me ever to come to a conclusion about anything. Does anyone else have that problem?

Yeah I’m definitely rambling … sorry… Regardless Greetings, now that I do actually have an account I can and hopefully will actively participate, as opposed to passively participate (if there is such a thing).

Shit... somebody else seemed to use the same topic as me only 10 posts down or so... Excuse my un-originality.

If it's any consolation, I love your screen name. Welcome. :hello:

I tend to visit other forums but not post much there. This place is strangely hospitable, as I have yet to have a Guardian (SJ) respond to any of my posts with an ad hominem attack.

As for conflicting thoughts, I definitely understand. I like to think that Truth (capital 'T') exists beyond these kinds of logic constraints, and that allowing the coexistence of seemingly contradictory ideas is the first step toward that Truth. Not that I'm there, but it makes me feel better ;)
