you know, for the amount of people in the world, and looking at the INTP Member Map, its funny that for instance there are no members from france or spain.

lets say there are 1% INTPs in a population. spain and france probably has roughly 100million ppl lets say. that means there are 1 million INTPs there.

Lets say conservatively speaking of that million, 10% are into internet, lets say 10% of those actually know the term INTP and 10% of those know english.

Thats still 1000 people, of whom there are zero here. This same analagous type of analysis could be done with any geographical region.

It just seems funny that there are as few people here as there really are. There are whole large cities in the world where english is spoken of whom there is no one here representing.

Any additional analysis/future predictions of this area of analysis?

I think we will see an exponential increase in members sometime relatively soon for a while, or at least very increased.

Many other INTPs have other interests besides being obsessed with their personalities.

We did have at least one member from France, and a couple from Germany, but from a european perspective the forum is heavily weighted to Scandanavia and the NW, and the absence of latins is very marked. Eastern europe may be explained partly by the fact that though they have superlative programmers, computer ownership could be much lower due to their unfortunate economies. Although this wouldn't apply to the Far East, where in Japan and places like Singapore they have greater computer access than even America, and we have few from those areas.

I would suggest that language may be the difficulty: if they can't learn, or have no wish to learn English, they are not likely to come here. They may have similar interest fora for their own tongues.

exactly! i mean the probability of finding this place is low, but so low that whole advanced parts of very technology oriented english speaking regions/countries are completely absent is really weird.

Speaking of Hungary, there would be more INTPs showing up here if there were books on MBTI available here in Hungarian. There are two books about Enneagram translated into Hun, but none about MBTI.

I think a couple of explanations might be that people who are in less diverse countries identify themselves as being part of different social dramas, ie radical vs conservative, muslim vs global imperialist, modernist vs clergy, they have different sociological imaginations, or maybe they are as comfortable as a bug in a rug where they are and wouldn't seek to join a ghetto that would set them apart from everyone else.

I am surprised that the makeup of this group resembles the groups identified with nordic racialism, used as an apology for British imperialism in the 19th century

I studied the Member Map and I've discovered some exciting facts:

1. Jasz is actually from China, just like cafeaulaitinfj and Tolbruk!
2. ApeTheDog, justanotherMOaner, Moridin and Fingers Superstar live near Somalia, in the northern Indian Ocean (The Seychelles?)
3. Sackanaka is from Botswana.

Really guys, you should be proud of having so many members from the Third World! :)

4. WinningTheGame lives in the middle of nowhere.
5. Also we have three members living in the Antarctica!

Such a diversity :)

(these members may have mistaken longitude for latitude when editing their profiles)

Claver has come up with the most sensible answers so far for Europe.

As for Singapore, although they speak Slinglish I wonder whether INTP means something else in chinese. Or it could be an underground proxy gateway thing for China maybe messin with the stats.

according to the map you live in Lybia. I guess you mistook the coordinates for each other (longitude for latitude, that is).

It's Singlish :P I'm from Singapore, though I'm more of a lurker. I don't think INTP is an acronym for anything chinese, but the large proportion of Singaporeans are supposedly ISTJs. My class is chock-full of INTPs and ENTPs though. I think there're 4 of each in a class of 27. MBTI profiling is quite popular here (my impression), may explain the rankings.

French is a lingua franca. It is widely spoken among diverse populations all over the world. Spanish is a world language next to English. If your mother language is a lingua franca, what do you need another for?
It is different with people who come from small countries. The Finns for example, they have to learn a lingua franca. It used to be German, but German accidentally lost the status after the war, and now it is English.
The intpc members are waspies and when not, are from waspie countries anyway. Those from the Third World are mostly waspies who happen to live there. In addition to these there are very few outsiders. Those who are from Belgium I guess speak Flemish as their mother language. If they spoke French, they would not be here but in the French inptc.
Then there is a Greek, a Hungarian, a Sudanese, a couple of Africans, a South American, two Finns, a Dutchman and a troll whose lodging is unknown.
