I need to punish myself for the abysmal performance on my last physics exam, give me a few ideas for sure to be "instructive" experiments (non-fatal preferebly).

I'll start by repeating Newton's 'stare at the sun' experiment.

Make your own flamethrower! Use a zippo lighter and a can of hairspray. Then you could see how long it takes for your enemy's house to burn.

You could put a soda can, but make sure you open it fist in to one of those jewelry cleaners that use waves to clean the jewelry. After a while take it out and watch how far the soda splatters. Or you could put dry ice and water into a water bottle. Close the cap tighly, set it on the ground and get out of the way. One of two things will happen....

1. It will pop the cap of and shoot in the air like a rocket.
2. It will explode making a large boom!


Try it! It's fun! Just don't kill yourself in the process.

I knew a guy at my last high school who managed to injure himself while doing this... it looked like the bottle wasn't gonna blow up, so he picked it up to lob it somewhere... and then it went boom. Did some nasty things to his finger... had to have a metal pin sticking out of it for a while, it was in there to keep the bones straight... he deserved it though... he was (is) a preppy asshole.
