Got it immediately, but holding off until I feel like discovering if the extensions/themes migrate OK. This time they should ( although in the different advices on how to uninstall/install or just over-install, some say disable the extensions first and some say just go ahead & FF will upgrade them automatically ).
The edmeister's site helps a lot:
The Edmeister Firefox Pages (http://the-edmeister.home.comcast.net/index.html)
particularly for those who make a habit of losing their profile:
Profile (http://the-edmeister.home.comcast.net/tips-html/tips-create_new_profile_dialog_box.html)
And modifying about:config for fewer timeout errors:
Time-outs (http://the-edmeister.home.comcast.net/tips-html/tips-http_timeouts.html)

Yah, yah, I figured it out finally. I probably won't need any more help with that paticular problem... for a while, anyway... I'll be sure to find something equally ridicluous to screw up, though. I'm on the wrong compy to download, though... will get it later.
Nifty site by the way... should have sent me the link in the first place...

Well, did it. It's a lot smoother and things seem to be more secure ( on 1.0PR the bookmarks menu slid about a bit in response to the slightest move ). Bookmarks and passwords fine. Extensions and themes gone.
And they haven't got Bookmark This up yet for 1.0 ! On the other hand there's a new one Homeland Security Threat Level I just had to have.
The extensions will have to go in one by one; but I'm downloading all the themes without closing the browser each time: doesn't seem to make any difference.

[ Actually I've started adding the extensions 3 at a time: so far OK; after all if it breaks it I'll just reinstall. Life's too short ].

They don't have Firesomething yet... Arrgh. That's my favorite. Diggler has yet to be ported, too... at least, the last time I checked it wasn't.
They did have Mouse Gestures and and Image Zoom... yay.
I never bothered with doing single install extensions... I just let it go with all of them, and it was fine. I never picked up too many at once, though... I dunno.
