G8 SUMMIT Bush caught on open microphone (http://www.forbes.com/finance/feeds/afx/2006/07/17/afx2882558.html)

US President George W. Bush, caught on an open microphone, said that a key to defusing the Middle East crisis was for 'Hezbollah to stop doing this shit'.
...
'the irony is, what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit, and it's over,'
...
The recording picked up as Bush, apparently expected to make remarks, declared: 'I'm just going to make it up. I'm not going to talk too damn long like the rest of them. Some of these guys talk too long.'

In the chummy conversation between long-time allies, Bush teased the British leader about a sweater Blair had apparently given him.

"Thanks for the sweater, it was awfully thoughtful of you. I know you picked it out yourself," Bush said.

"Oh, absolutely," said Blair.
http://www.forbes.com/business/feeds/ap/2006/07/17/ap2882731.html

"You eight hours? Me too. Russia's a big country and you're a big country. Takes him eight hours to fly home. Not Coke, diet Coke. ... Russia's big and so is China. Yo Blair, what're you doing? Are you leaving," Bush said.
...
Bush, a stickler for keeping to his schedule, could also be heard saying, "We have to keep this thing moving. I have to leave at 2:15. They want me out of here to free up their security forces."

I'm not sure if accidentally speaking into an open microphone could be called willing.

They probably do, but I doubt it's toll free. What do you think paid for his campaigns?

I just wonder, are they (the media / public) taking issue with the fact that he had a "candid" conversation? Or do they have a problem with him using the word shit, (which, by the way, is not all that uncommon for a fundamentalist Christian from Texas).

Wasn't it a year or so back when the USA scored a mighty victory and forced Evil Syria to stay the hell away from Little Lebanon ( who are Good Folks, led astray by big meanies like Syria and the demonic Iranians )* ? Looks like something has gone wrong...

I bet Billy Graham doesn't; and he's been a very deep personal friend of every single US president since Millard Fillmore Dwight Eisenhower, the noted War Criminal; and he got the Big Brother's Award for Indoctrination Big Brother of the Year Award.

You don't have to curse him.

And the Syrians --- rightly --- think they ought to have a say in the Lebanon: what happens there concerns their security rather more than it does the security of the continental United States.

And you can't blame big countries for pushing around small neighbours. Well, you can, but it's not as if it's gonna get you anywhere.

Bush seems like the kind of guy you could drink in a seedy bar with and do coke lines in the bathroom of said seedy bar. The same kind of guy that you think, "Man, can you imagine if he was president or something?", and then you have a big laugh.

Exactly, which is partly what got him elected in the first place. It's that "regular guy" persona.
