I have a hard time reading the posts with this new setup. It's almost like I'm not sure where to read, and then when I find it, the colors just make me not want to read it. Plus where the hell are the avatars? People changed them all the time, but that's usually how I remembered who posters were.
Can we go back to the old forum?
It wouldn't be so bad if the names were to the left of the posts instead of above them. I think there might just be too many colors with this version too. I don't know, this scheme just really bothers me. At least the weird issue with clicking on areas where there are no links and being directed somewhere is gone.

1. this forum isn't going to stay looking like this.
2. import app didn't import the avatars correctly so I will be writing something to medicate that.
3. vbulletin cost money.
4. I don't like the scheme either and it makes me gag as well.
5. I can't make everyone happy. :(
6. Patience.

For some reason, I'm really frustrated and agitated at the moment. Oh, I think I just need to clean my mouse hehe.
And yeah, it is a bit irritating having to adjust to this forum, but I suppose its not just a matter of getting used to it, since its going to change again is it?

Well, that's good to read. The quick reply is already back.
Please get the names and avatars to the left of the posts if you can though.

Thanks guys for the hard work. Off-the-shell apps are always a bitch to breakdown and reconfigure. I hope the documentation is good!

it is evident the designers of vbulletin are better at designing forum software than the designers of phpbb as the interface immediately betrays its simplicity which is at the heart of good design

Ah, slowly but surely, this place is getting back to normal (and soon, better than before.. so it would seem)

At first I wasn't crazy about it, but this new place is starting to feel cozy (granted, it's not perfect). [Though I do miss my "chunk style" skin from the old forum...]
Also glad nGene finally posted; I feared she was not aware that her forum had moved!

I was wondering where you had gone off to. That bamboozled me.

...family bs, relationship bs, and automotive modifications occupied most of my time for awhile. I've only had time to peek, but now maybe I can spend the time to figure out to use this new format. :)

Haha, I was anxiously keeping my fingers crossed and waiting for the move! :D
I'm a little busy with school right now, so although I do keep an eye on this place, I don't post much. I'm glad FC has time to tweak the software!

The forum features here are now the same as the last version of the CGJung Forum before the plug got pulled on it again...except that you are offering the wonderful selection of smilies that were on the previous board.
Thanks very much, NGene and FC, for continuing to offer them.

What was wrong with the old forum? I am not trying to bitch or anything, I just wanted to know why the forum was changed. It is a little more confusing now. Pluse I don't really like how it is set up. I can't see the pics in my signature, is there any way you can fix that? Please. Thanks.

I thought I had fixed that problem. I updated all users who had not logged in and who hadn't adjusted any of their settings yet.. but apparently you didn't get affected. what you need to do is go here:
http://www.intpcentral.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions
scroll to 'Visible Post Elements'
check Show avatars/sigs/images
better look at any of the other options you want enabled(such as private messaging or anything else)
The problem with the old forum was that there were certain parts of it that broke for some reason(subscriptions, I think) and it was slower.. and had less functionality... and I didn't feel in good hands using phpBB -- shit db design and shit code.
The only major differences currently are the color scheme and the way posts are laid out -- both of which will be changing. at any rate, you will adapt.
Johnny.. I will take a look into the smilie issue. Most were imported but the import tool wasn't perfect.
Johnny, I can only guess that you have "Disable smilies in text" checked when you posted.
:sombrero:  work for me.
aye, wtf. now they show in your post. guess the clicking around I did in the backend actually did something..

if a post with an image is quoted the image not the text shows up in the reply because it is not a simple text editor to be able to see the text a different editor has to be selected in the options though i do not know what the default is

hmm. Will the avatars and user info always appear *above* the post as opposed to beside it?
That's being worked on. Plus it's more of a theme issue, and we don't have other themes *quite* yet.

I am used to forums like these, I just wanted the avatar feature, and that's fixed for me now, otherwise, I'm ok with this forum, let me know if you already got someone to make the INTP logo.

I'm working on that too (FC enlisted me because we live near each other so we can meet up and I do graphic design) but by all means if you have specific ideas msg me. This isn't an invitation to everyone, I dont want to be bombarded...I trust you'll know if your ideas are worth anything.. Like you Avengardh, evidently since you brought it up.

I don't really have any ideas at all...usually I just end up with something, but Fc can show you what I used to have on the other forum; but if you want criticism, I'm your INTP (/J in this case I guess) :D (of course, you don't have to, just throwing it out there, you already design stuff ^^).

FC is doing a fine job of criticizing my ideas so far, lol. As if I'm not self-critical enough.... :P I might want some more input later on, dont know...depends how stuck I get.

ahhhhhhhhhhh much better :)
One last anal nitpick-- The blue "dots" in the main forum list that tell you if a forum has any posts or not... can its color be vastly different from the color used to indicate that it has no unread posts?
right now it's grey and a shade of blue... rather difficult to distinguish at first glance in regards with the consistent color scheme... maybe making that "blue" dot a brighter (or at least, much easier to distinguish from grey) color would do the trick.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet but.. when I view "new posts", they are not always new. Also, I'm not subscribed to any threads, so not sure why threads are showing as new when they're not since the last time I logged out.

I experience the same thing. I wonder if it is related to edits? For example, the "Moral, Immoral, OR Amoral" thread is right at this moment showing up as new with last post by mgbradsh at 9:52am. But upon opening, the last post is by mgbradsh at 12:04am (9+ hours earlier). If there was an update at 9:52am that would be new to me, but since there is no new post I can only conclude that there was an edit at 9:52am (unless it's just a bug in the system).
I would prefer "new" be based on brand new posts, but other people may prefer it to be based on any type of update (new or edit).
