What food do you reach for when you're feeling down?

Mozzarella sticks for me...maybe hot chocolate too.

Cheese -pizza, mac and cheese, nachos, etc or just a block of sharp cheddar
It's bad because I'm allergic to dairy - sets off my asthma (wheezing bad, breathing good) but I still reach for it when I'm depressed.

When I'm depressed I usually just lie down on my bed and listen to music. But if there's one nearby, I Snap Into A Slim Jim!
Or something else that's fatty/salty or maybe sweet. Sin food I suppose? :/

What food do you reach for when you're feeling down?I actually prefer to cook the meal. It's my therapy when highly tense.

Recently rediscovered curling up with a nice hot cup of chai tea. *mmm*
Does a person a world of good. :)

I cook too. The kitchen is often my "leave me alone" area.

Interesting that no one has commented on the location of this thread...;)

[I feel like filing a complaint with the avatar-importing department, damnit.]

I did but alas, I am powerless here.

And how can you stand chai, Streph? Ick. Anything else but chai.

Chai? That's just normal Chinese green tea, right? Nothing wrong with that. ;)

Let's see, what do I eat when I'm down? Nothing, until I'm totally starving, then I'd eat whatever is in my fridge/cupboard. I guess I'm just not a comfort eater.

On the other hand, I have totally bought my mother's belief that there is not an illness in the world that cannot be cured with blackcurrant tea. It's been shown to be 100% effective in our little scientific study (both subjects are still alive and well).

For me, comfort foods are:
My home made chicken vegetable soup, with pureed banana squash to thicken the broth. Also, just having warm buttered pureed banana squash with salt and pepper is comforting. Or an avocado with salt and pepper. Old world vegetable flavors like rhutamoos, chefs salads with pickled beets, turkey & ranch dressing, garlicky artichokes, prime rib with mushrooms and wine sauce. Well, I guess most foods are comfort foods anyway, I love it all. Better list Starbucks French Roast coffee, and a cold Miller Draft.

AAA Steaks, or Souvlaki and Greek Salad (some Western Pizza restaurants make excellent greek foods, others half-ass it)

Favorite 'quick' food is beer sticks, mmmm....

Why is chai 'Ick'?

Oddly enough, Peanut Butter is like crack to me if I'm feeling down. (but only if it's Skippy, no other brand will do)
