official date isn't set.. but I spoke with a member of the forum here who is willing to hook us up.... so.. there will be a day(or maybe two) where the site will be taken down for the move which should be fairly seemless.

Cool, post the new IP when your ready for those of us who will have DNS issues.
Yes. Good idea because it was several days for DNS to roll through for me, last time.
And you don't want to see me without my fix.

That's what we intend to do. We're cloning DNS to my DNS network, we'll switch authorative nameservers while old server is still in service, wait 48 hours to propogate, then set TTL to 5 minutes. We'll then migrate and switch DNS, and unless you run off proxies that don't comply with standards, you'll be set.

Alrighty, migration will happen this comming weekend. Saturday evening, at ~ 12:00 PM Central Time. This should be mostly seamless, however the forums may be down for about 10 minutes during the process, and I reserve the right to take them down for up to an hour to get things situated.
Thank you for your cooperation during this transition, I'll post the IP for the new server as requested a little bit later this week.

Alright, we're moved, I moved earlier, so shoot me. Everything works but archives, and those will be put back up tomorrow.
If you have any problems, please just P/M myself or FCI and we'll get it resolved. Thanks for cooperation, you should notice a dramatic speed increase.

Some of my posts from last night are gone, but it's no biggie...
Thanks for making this site available, btw.

Whhooo Hooo! Yes, as dramatic effects go, remarkable is the least we might say.
(That's what I figured you were doing, in the early hours this morning. Hope you're catching up on well earned sleep, right now =)

Thanks :) We try. Thank fci as well, along with the moderators and administrators that make this entire thing viable to begin with heh.
And I am truly sorry for the slight bugs, but as I said, overall this should present a great increase, as my company pays alot of money to make these servers have _no_ downtime (not small operation, OC48, redundant RAID, etc) so we shouldn't have any problems anymore with downtime.

I did mean "all of you" - carried away by great enthusiasm, I posted here before my brain was coherent...
So, my proper appreciation, of everyone's efforts, is under Umbrellas, in rants.
(where I thought of NGene's signature, as I discovered how many smilies is too many, by going back three times, as per instruction box. I did feel words did not suffice... yet they must! :smooch: To all whose efforts permit this lovely forum!)

The DNS at work has cached the old address. Maybe I shouldn't be visiting there...

Like, it's a sign?

Luckily, none of us believe in signs or doing as our admins say, so set your nameserver to 67.52.53.84 and empty the cache and you'll be set :)

Heeroyuy, you're 16 years old (if my calculations are correct)? Just wondering, because you earlier referred to "my company." If so, kudos to you.

That's right, I'm 16 :). It isn't _my_ company, but rather company I'm in employment for, I hooked up a deal with them, basicly as part of my empolyment agreement (NDA, etc) I'm allowed to run some accounts free, including this one, on our servers, for extended periods of time. If I leave they preserve it at no cost, etc. I intend to work for them until I'm out of college at least anyhow, then they may very well make me a fulltime offer heh (we run 15 BSD servers, all on OC48, but they're mainly an advertising company, we colo. So they only need me for about 25-30 hours most weeks, so hey :)). We've been around for over a decade, so we're pretty stable too :)
dns finally went through.. I had to CTRL+F5 though
