It's scary. I just watched the movie "V for Vendetta". Not a bad movie, but what I really got out of it was how much we just accept how corrupt our governments and media are.

OMG I'm starting to agree with George Galloway. I need some serious thinking time.

How many of you think the UN brokered ceasefire will actually happen at 5pm tonight given recent acceleration of attacks on both sides, and the fact that Israel's going to have a helluva trouble getting its troops out of Lebanon in time?

May be for about five minutes *hopes it lasts longer*. I am really worried it will be like the cease-fire in Sri Lanka right now. Cease fire on paper, war on the ground.
and the fact that Israel's going to have a helluva trouble getting its troops out of Lebanon in time?I don't think they have any intention of getting them out soon, they said it will not be until the UN peace keepers arrive in some 2 weeks.

Who really thinks a cease fire will achieve anything except a time out to regroup and rearm? That area of the world has probably seen more cease fires than the rest of the world put together, yet the record of failure seems to deter nobody who calls for another one.
George Galloway substitutes "intelligent thought" for "voluminous voice." Unfortunately, it works all too well. The SkyNews presenter is only marginally better.
Like the delusional debating the retarded.

The time it takes you to reload your gun does not count as a cease fire...
The time it takes you to reload your gun does not count as a cease fire...Yet that is precisely what they amount to in practice.
If the purpose of a cease fire is not to simply delay the fighting, but in fact to cease fire indefinitely, then you might as well stop with the verbal sleight of hand and just accept that you are really asking for peaceful negotiations, only under a different name.

Mid eastern politics serve as a nations distraction from other issues.Much like in america, when you want to garner votes you pick something your electorate favors or a real charged topic like abortion or same sex marriages or blanket amnesty for foreigns and everybody gets in heap for nothing because no one had intentions on passing a bill anyway. If it was removed from the public eyesite they never will be able distract peoples minds elsewhere in the future when they need to.

This ceasefire is supposedly in place so people can get in to help the innocent victims of the fighting. People who stayed in the area, having realized that anything that moves via internal cumbustion is a legimate target in this war, can have a chance to drive like bats out of hell without worrying about incoming explosives.
The Israelis have already fired on a group of militants that were "approaching in a threatening manner". Will the cease fire last? Psshhh. My money's on the snowball in hell. Anyone in the area should GTFO right now, while both parties are still wondering if it's time to break it or not.
