you've done something new?
Not a repeat of a old thing.. but something new.
Or are you in a rut?

It could be argued that when you study, everything you learn is new (if it wasn't new to you, you wouldn't need to learn it).
Apart from that, I think I do new things quite often, i.e. travelling to places I haven't seen, trying new activities etc.. Otherwise, I would be horribly bored, and my brain would start to shut down.
That may well be the definition of hell - a place where there will never be anything new to see, anything new to learn. *shudders*

Same thing here. During the summers I can get horribly bored, so I go out backpacking through Europe. Trying to find new interesting places to go to is becoming more difficult though. Otherwise I always have something to study to keep my mind awake.

I went to a hillbilly bar last weekend and hung out with the mennonites.

A lot of what I do thats new is online websurfing, finding new websites, etc. I like to cook new recipes, and find new websites, and try asserting myself in new ways at times with family members. Here is a new website for me: http://www.terradaily.com/

I have a problem with NOT trying new things all the time. Last summer, I took a welding class, now I'm taking a hydraulics and pneumatics class. What next? who can say...

I bought a french horn not too long ago just because I like learning new instruments. Before that I bought a djembe and a flugelhorn. Yesterday, I decided I want to go to a wolf preserve that I found online. I'm simultanously in search of the most thought-provoking quote, interesting and progressive music/band, a project I can make using household items, people who lead more interesting lives than I/someone to give me a challenge, my new favorite ethnic food, and the smoothest cigarette (so far I've decided on Camel with Winston as a close 2nd).
I love new things, mostly though because I want to learn and understand. I am actually interested in the subjects I explore, but usually I think it's more of an avenue to something more expansive, like some grandiose interlocking theme of the universe. My search for my "favorite," the "most beautiful," the "truest," the "coolest" never ends because each discovery forces me back to edit, rethink, and revise.
Finally, I find myself playing solitaire Diplomacy, hoping that in the end stabbing myself in the back and forming alliances with myself will prove intellectually stimulating, perhaps character-building.

I'm always trying to find something new to do. My problem is.. I start something new... and I get bored of it over some period of time... then I leave it unfinished and move on. THAT is what I am trying to over come. I just started kick-boxing, a new hiphop dance class, and I am working with my community's theater once again. (I haven't worked there in about 4 years so it's new to me) Yesterday I cooked Thanksgiving dinner (all by myself) for the first time. It didn't turn out so bad.

FallenAngel,
I hear you. Finishing is a completely different story.
You made Thanksgiving dinner....way to go. I'm assuming that you cooked the turkey completely...: )

The turkey worried me the most too... I'm always afraid I'll cook meat/poultry wrong.. and then everyone will get sick. Heh.

Started learning the clarinet the week before last.
I've been told I have "potential" (by that I think the teacher means my tone sounds slightly better than a dying goose)

So far, I try too many new things... And don't finish. This year in school I've been working on pretending to be a socialite... Haha. I edit their newspaper, am an officer in the community service club and am starting another as soon as the weather gets better, and am taking eight classes, all of them with the coveted grade of "A". I have NO free time... And am going crazy. This weekend was the most free time I've had to myself in forever, because I ditched a bunch of obligations. Soo... As soon as semester ends I'm dropping classes and obligations. This life is soooo not for me. Not only that... I am never, ever going to do anything like what I have been ever again. One at a time! Not all at once...

I'm trying to play through new games (new to me, anyway...) that I missed when they came out... no they're easy to find for free or cheap... I just started Half-life (not 2, 1) the other day, and I see how it has influenced other games (like Doom 3, for example...) I beat Deus Ex the other day, and I just played through Windwaker this weekend.

Hmmm...I joined the literary magazine in my College not too long ago, made a website for them, that's pretty new for me, I wasn't thinking in joining the "artsy-poetic-people" who are anal about how you describe a sunset in a stanza; they didn't seem to like me because I was so "reserved" in truth, I just didn't like them. I feel poetry should be open-minded.
I also joined the Psychology club, interesting group of people, not many know about Myers-Briggs.
Other than that...not much else new :]
