A friend found this for me... since it is illegal in the US, is this the end of on-line poker in this country?

- Politics generally focuses in on one issue at a time and it may be this one?

- Should I cash out my remaining money ASAP or gamble and "let it ride"?

- Comments/Concerns/Rants/Raves... feel free to comment

This doesn't really concern the online poker player. The guys who have been getting detained are online bookmakers. Not the players. As players, we don't have to be concerned until the online gaming bill reaches the senate, and only then if it appears that the senate will pass it.

The back-room bookies who run the poker games will be thrilled!

It's all such horse-shit. For 30 years - THIRTY! - every night of the year, poker games were held upstairs from the barbershop directly across the street from the precinct house in Flushing. These were the kind of games where the dealers were going home w/2, 3 thousand per night in tips, sometimes more. So, this was not penny-ante, nickel and dime poker.

Why have the games stopped? Simple. The make up of the neighborhood has changed beyond recognition, so it became necessary to move the games where the action was - not because the law was cracking down. The law wasn't going to crack down as long as the envelope crossed the street regularly.

That's what this is - this on-line stuff is neither paying out the big, fat licensing fees where the gambling is legal nor paying the necessary tribute where the gambling is illegal. That's all it is.

I like your thinking.

I'll just go ahead and make the check out to Captain Obvious. Will that be okay?

:nono: No, that would be too obvious!

Just leave a nice envelope where I'll be sure to find it.
