View Full Version : Confess Your Hidden Fear of A Member

The love thread is getting bumped too much. It's time, I feel, for a thread to provide a counter-point to it.

Hatred is too boring, though, and who is hated can pretty easily be figured out by who is excluded from being listed on the love thread. Also, a thread about hate would likely be destined for purgatory. So, I'm wondering: Who do you fear?

Is there someone who you don't want to respond to your thoughts? Anyone in particular who you'd shy away from meeting? Perhaps there is someone who you feel has some incredible abilities that you think they might end up using to some thrillingly awful purpose against something you care about? Why do/would you fear this person?

I imagine that this isn't actually going to go anywhere, because there's a shame associated with admitting to fear. I vaguely remember being surprised before, though.

Sure. I'm kinda scared of kaavik, because furries are some pretty scary people. Also, the semi-nude furry images he was posting on one of the few occasions I dropped in on the IRC were pretty creepy.

Is that some kind of famous line or something? My ENTJ friend once sent me a text message that said, "Girl, you got a real purty mouth," and just left it at that. I've wondered about it ever since. Of course, I wouldn't have dared to ask him what he meant. Well, I lie... yes, I would have. I just didn't. And now it's too late. He'd probably have no idea what I'm talking about if I were to ask now, months later.

It's a famous line from the movie Deliverance. I've never seen the movie myself, though I have used the line.

It's a hill-billy butt-humping plug. (think one male red neck saying it to another male red neck).

The quote was expanded on in popular culture in a Korn Song on their third album "Follow the Leader" in the song "All in the Family."

Why should anyone fear anyone here?

Yeah, I'll go ahead and answer the clearly rhetorical question because I'm just in that sort of mood. Behold:

What reason is there to attach any sort of feeling to anyone here? Fondness, respect, disgust, loathing, amusement--all of these emotions are expressed regularly with regards to other members.

So why fear? Maybe it is that the feared figure represents something or someone else in the world around them. More likely, since the purpose of this forum is to gather people with similar personalities, perhaps the persons who are feared represent something that people fear in themselves.

Perhaps some people associate certain behavioral modes with periods in their lives where they were more unstable and unpredictable. Maybe there's a fear of someone who displays a breadth of capability and behavior that is thought to be impossible.

I think I'm repeating the first post in the thread, here. If I weren't answering dull rhetoric, I'd probably point out that one might fear bergenski for representing the dangers of a society where poor reading comprehension is the norm. ;)

On this Board, anyone who projects the image of not having been fed through a hole in the wall in their parents' basement until adulthood is suspected of not being INTP. You will find that for that same reason, it is usually the more multi-faceted members who fall under suspicion. Hell, what can I do but be proud?

Classical INTPc stereotyping at work. Perhaps my life has been richer in passion, beauty and tragedy than yours. That's the stuff poetry is made of. Also, you are obviously clueless as to the fact that NT poetry exists. Borges is an example of that.

i wouldn't say you project a very complex image on INTPc, it's not a bad thing, but it's not the complex people that get accused of being other types...it's the more distinct people.

I think complex and multi-faceted aren't really the same, but I meant "different facets from those stereotypically assigned to an INTP". I've been told that my political ideas, relationship ideas, Fe, social habits, clothes, etc., are non-INTP. Together, those non-stereotypical facets aren't necessarily complex, just different from the very rigid notion of what is supposed to be a norm over here.

Picture the luscious drapes which abut the window and the soft light of the afternoon filling the chamber, and playing off the chandelier in a luminous filigree above you as you gaze upon a sunset, the likes of which you see perhaps three or four times in your life. Blood and crimson fade to cantaloupe and orange, leading outward through a field of diaphonous, silver-shot blue to a cerulean whose mysterious, cosmic depth belies the imminence of night. The subtle scent of lilac can be detected, sneaking into the chamber from an open portal elsewhere in the estate, whose remoteness from you is reflected in the long shadows which stretch elegantly amidst the sundrenched green beneath the prismatic skyscape.

I always feared I would shoot DMan in a fit of road rage and jack his SUV and live forevermore on the run, from forum to forum, always peering over my shoulder.

I also fear that Deepsky would cast a spell of premenstrual pubescence and incarnate into a differrent member resembling a gigantic bunny rabbit with intent to trample me with her army of woodland creatures much like the devil worshiping ones in that episode of south park.

I also fear that headfonez is the light and the way and controls the matrix in which the rest of us are all manipulated and misguided.

I'm going to be 43 in December. When I was a kid - damn! As much as I could. I managed 7 times in one day once. Now - eh ... Now and then. I'm pretty much satisfied just having sex w/a partner ... Don't do that as much any more ... Oh, God, I'm OLD! ... I have a maternal cousin, Frank - a year or so older than I am. When we were kids, no bullshit, Frank could go and go and go - and, yes, boys do that shit - jerk off in front of each other - or even help each other out: mutual masturbation. Frank never got soft - damn!

 Her forum persona is scary enough. Underneath it all, she's just plain weird. In the NF way.

I would say Songbird too, but at least she was funny. Sometimes myself and a few other people would be talking in #intuitive, and she'd come out of nowhere with these hilarious accusations that were reminiscent of drunken slurs. How she could "spot a phony from a mile away" and somehow knew that two seperate forum personas were the same person. "wtf, lol" is the only response you could give her because she'd lose the train of thought just as quickly. She did a lot of other weird stuff, but I don't wanna get sued. :P

Consider the act of standing in a regally-appointed, marble-inlaid chamber looking through a large window out onto a beautiful landscape.
