View Full Version : Revisiting Type

Hello!
I've known for years what 'type' I was, but it seems the older I get the more defined it becomes.
I have two friends and type is a big topic of conversation. They love to type all the people in their lives and that they meet.
Thought it might be fun to 'talk' with others that share my type.

I have only recently been exposed to and become interested in type and personality theory. It's been fascinating so far.

It is pretty interesting. I was glad the first time I took the test and found out what type I was and that there were others like me!
Anyway it might be more fun to rehab with others! LOL
I can figure out some of what's in the signatures, the INTP and the Enneagram, but what is the third item?

There are other tests for whether you are more social, or self preservational, or sexual. Sexual doesn't necessarily mean you like sex, it can mean you prefer one on one relationships to fulfill some part of you. Its what your first reaction is to people, what you naturally seek out from others. They have tests that can help you find out what you are, but I know not where. SP, SX or SO.

I posted a link in this thread (http://www.intpcentral.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=64) that might interest you, Pati. :)

I'm not anywhere near as well-versed in Enneagram typology, especially with respect to team-building and working successfully with others in a professional setting, so it's not as meaningful to me as MBTI. But there it is, and I can sometimes see myself in the way the Enneagram test results painted me - daydreaming often and better at building bridges to connect me to one other person rather than to myself and/or a crowd.

Ok... I checked out the link. Is it worth the money? (There's that thrifty part of me that pops up once in a while!)

I just noticed the time is GMT. Leave it to a bunch of INTP's! I love it.

My opinion is that if you're going to put down money, buy an Enneagram book with a test in it, so you can study the types and the system so that you have two resources - the in-depth details of the system and your test results - to work with. I have not paid for internet test results - I've only taken free tests or viewed only the free results. When I wanted to explore Keirsey's MBTI more, I bought "Please Understand Me II" which had the full test, full results, and lots of other goodies in it. I thought getting both the full test and full information behind it to play with were a worthwhile deal. I soon indulged in framing my family's conflicts and (often negatively expressed) observations about each other in terms of Keirsey temperament values, and shared my analyses with my family. That was fun. :)

I've got no idea. I haven't bought anything from them and won't buy. I just liked the instinctual subtypes chart at the website.

I've never purchased test results from any website, but from what I've heard they pale in comparison to the books (this is especially true of the Enneagram) and are more expensive to boot.
Ohnoaninfp - I love your username! :P I think all of us INTPs kind of go through life with that kind of mentality - "Watch out, here comes an INTP in an extraverted, SJ world!" It's cool to have the tables turned for once.
