I am knew to the forum (as obvious by post count), and already I may be going missing for a few days. It seems I managed to forget I have a power bill a couple months in a row. No lack of funds for it, I just walked into my home having snuck out of work for lunch, and hmm, everythings off.

I've noticed a few comments about bills and things, is this some sort of 'P' thing I just need to get used to for the future?

I haven't done that in a long time. But then, my wife pays the bills. :D

I can't say you will get to read this.

You need a system. Put the bills somewhere that you will walk past all the time so you are constantly reminded to pay them.

You can also try ebills thru bank of america, go to www.bofa.com (http://www.bofa.com) they automatically send a bill each month and you just click "pay" and the amount and hit process and its paid. You can take the company bill address and put it in manually for ANY person, and they will send out a machine generated check payment 4-5 days later. Even some dentist at some remote address can be paid if you have your account number, and amount and their address, and bank of america has free bill paying online, its decent. You just need a checking account. However, its still a good idea to do a spreadsheet with how much you've paid, so you are sure your not paying more than you have. (This happens to me, I want to pay more bills than there is money to pay, because I don't balance my checkbook, I just like to guess, and sometimes thats not accurate enough!). Heck, if I have checks and banks, there MUST be money in there right?

I definitely have the "bill problem." I tend to not open my mail and set it aside. I know it's there and I even know I should open it and deal with it, but I sometimes cannot bring myself to just get out the pen, write down the amount, seal up the envelope, and drop it in the box....It would be nice, though, if I could make those credit ladies stop calling for me. Funny how something that most people consider very important to being sucessful and responsible just doesn't matter to me most of the time. Nonetheless, I'm working on it. I really do not enjoy mid-naptime conversations with credit "people." Perhaps if I ever have my own family I'll become more responsible in this area.

Paying bills on time is a huge problem for me and it has nothing to do with not having the funds, but as has already been stated; I don't open mail. It's perfectly within possibility that I might find bill "in the stack", in an envelope, that has not been opened in YEARS. Of course it must have been paid the next month the day before they cut off the service.

The hardest one for me to pay is insurance. The whole idea of insurance drives me insane.
