Hello. (Yes, just like the title bar said)

I've known about my intp status for awhile, but just came across this site. It looks potentially spiffin'.

I really don't like just saying hello. It seems so pointless. So I also have some questions. I am betting someone has already asked them at some point in time on this forum, but, um, I'm gonna ask them anyway...

1) How often do you guys feign stupidity and/or confusion just to get people to stop talking to you? I notice that I do this a lot.

2) I had a cool question planned for slot number two, but alas, I have forgotten it. So in it's stead I'll put this question: How many of you guys have ever played Adventure Games (i.e. King's Quest, Monkey Island, etc.)?
I would think that this genre of gaming would have a high overrepresentation of intp's. But perhaps I am wrong. Or perhaps most of the intp's who play adventure games don't post on intp forums.

3) Ar?

Welcome. :hello:

Spiffin', eh? well... yeah, you could call it that.
Gaming, yes, all the time.

Hi there.

Look behind you, it's a three headed monkey!

It's probably quite redundant to say welcome as well, but it gives the impression of being nice. So, welcome!

I sometimes pretend not to know stuff that I really do, at least I did a lot back in high school. Though that is probably more to avoid sounding too arrogant. If I want people to get lost, I pretend to be really shy or really boring.

Edit: King's Quest? Isn't that a really old game? It sounds familiar.

Yeah I liked the Monkey Island series and pretending not to know stuff is something I do occasionally. Oh yeah and welcome.

Actually, now that I think about it, I also frequently act confused and stupid so I don't come off as arrogant. The shyness thing I don't have to pretend about. If you decide to talk to me about something I don't care or know about (e.g. sports) then I will just freeze up and avoid eye contact until you go away or start talking about something interesting. And sadly enough, for most people I don't have to pretend about the boring bit either. :resigned:

King's Quest and Monkey Island were prominent in the early '90's, which I like to refer to as the Golden Age of Gaming... but that could just be because that particular time period was when I first started gaming and holds a certain nostalgia factor.

How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

It sure seems to be spiffin'

you are right, it is pointless. Unless of course it is followed by something like questions, then it serves as an attention getter.

I actually either reply with sarcasm, or don't say anything, because sarcasm would not be a smart move in that particular instance.

2) I had a cool question planned for slot number two, but alas, I have forgotten it. So in it's stead I'll put this question: How many of you guys have ever played Adventure Games (i.e. King's Quest, Monkey Island, etc.)?

Yes, I have had some interest in Adventure Games, but have had no time to pursue.

3) Ar?
You lost me on that one.

Welcome, Arctic Skunk!

Does your name (cool name, by the way) mean you've lived in the far north?

:hello:

Maybe "Ar?" is asking if we're stable, like the noble gas Argon abbreviated as Ar.

Or maybe it's piratical... Arr, matey...

No, unless you count Detroit, Michigan as the "far north." I lived there for about 8 years. I guess it was pretty close to Canada...

Thank you for liking my name. My wilted ego appreciates it...it doesn't realize that your bolstering of my confidence just makes the inevitable fall that much more painful. I like your name as well...although to be honest there aren't too many names I don't like.

It's actually derived from the piratical version... which I sorta morphed into a whole new personal euphemism of my own (I doubt I'm the only one) that I use when I would like to add confusion, or just be random.

I do like the Argon idea, though. That was pretty cool. So, are you stable? Or is your response more along the lines of "Uuh...."

:)

So it's a questiong sort of Arr... Like Ar? (meaning "where did I set me grog down, matey?) or Arr? (meaning "What in the bloody hell did I do with me treasure maps?"

Yeah, sorta like, "Ar, whadda yer mean ther ain't no sech thing as a free lunch?'"
