Must have taken a lot of RPG hits to damage an M1A2. I remember those things bouncing off the armor, or making small dents.

Perhaps the insurgents have access to more modern weapons, such as the RPG-29, which can apparently penetrate the frontal armor of modern Russian tanks.

That's true. I don't know much about the 29. I mostly ran up against the 7.

Edit: According to Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPG29), it can penetrate about 30 inches of rolled homogeneous armor ...after reactive effects. That is pretty impessive. While I still don't think that can take out an M1A2 frontally ... it can wreak havoc from the top, or back, or turret ring ... taking out either the crew compartment or engine. I'm glad they didn't have them during my time on tanks. Looks like the infantryman, freedom fighter, guerrilla, and terrorist just got an upgrade.
