If you don't have any friends because you spend too much time online, then who is going to complain about you spending too much time onine?

Its just like video games. There are people who think video games are useful and people who think they are horrible. Now, surgeons are given video games to improve the accuracy of their hand eye coordination.
On the internet, I freely read, explore, download information at will. I get to explore a wide variety of interests from my own personal location. Also, I save time by ordering pizza online, paying bills online, learning new information online(e-books anyone?). If there is anything wrong with being an informed, inquisitive researcher on the internet then I think the psychologists need to storm into my house with the straight jacket and take me away.

Surprisingly low. Maybe it's because most of my household are INs. Usually if I'm getting bugged about being online it's because someone else wants my machine. Three computers aren't quite enough for us.

The test is seriously flawed. Allow me to explain :
How often do you find that you stay on-line longer than you intended?
(What if I just stay on line all day long?)
How often do you neglect household chores to spend more time on-line?
(What if I don't do chores)
How often do you prefer the excitement of the Internet to intimacy with your partner?
(What partner? PC is my partner.)
How often do others in your life complain to you about the amount of time you spend on-line?
(Where's the "they've completely given up complaining" option?!")
How often do you become defensive or secretive when anyone asks you what you do on-line?
(No. My porn addiction is off-topic and everyone knows that.)
How often do you block out disturbing thoughts about your life with soothing thoughts of the Internet?
(I'm always on the internet, I never need to block out any disturbing thoughts)
How often do you find yourself anticipating when you will go on-line again?
(I AM online, already, or sleeping. Such biased question.)
How often do you snap, yell, or act annoyed if someone bothers you while you are on-line?
(I am locked away with privacy. No one bothers me. Bias, bias, bias)
How often do you feel preoccupied with the Internet when off-line, or fantasize about being on-line?
(That's bull. Like I said before, I'm always online.)
How often do you try to hide how long you've been on-line?
(They've given up)
How often do you choose to spend more time on-line over going out with others?
(The "others"?!)
How often do you feel depressed, moody, or nervous when you are off-line, which goes away once you are back on-line?
(I AM NEVER OFFLINE.)
Anyways, just because I have to omit all these questions because they're biased and I don't want to lie on such important test, I get a small rating of 45. Which isn't true it all. It's more like 125. But test is flawed and is not capable of recognizing that.
Geoff
5 Nov 2006, 11:28 PM
I see your point. Each question should have an option "There's an OFFLINE?"

48 - It doesn't classify as addiction, but I feel addicted sometimes. I often find myself just being on the internet for no apparent reason when I could be doing mounds of far more productive things. I think it's my ability to pull myself away for social functions, and the fact that I don't obsess or think about the internet while I'm away that keeps me off the Internet Anonymous roster.

Which is complete nonsense. I am a computer-addicted surf-monkey if ever there was one. I agree that this basically tests if you "feel bad" about your internet use. By Buddha, if someone tried to take Google and Wikipedia away from me I 'd strangle them with my mouse cord.
And the irony of taking an Internet addiction test ONLINE from a reference from a link on an ONLINE forum, so that I can post my results back to the forum ONLINE was delicious.
Poorly coded site too BTW.
