Quote from the movie "A Few Good Men"

Today, Rumsfeld stepped down as W?s Secretary of Defense. Many Americans have had their fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, and nephews brought back from Baghdad in body bags. With his contacts in the Pentagon, Rumsfeld will become an overpaid consultant for a defense contractor. Neither he nor W will be held accountable for their lethal incompetence.

Sad, but true.

Clearly, it's good to be king.

Oh beautiful, for spacious skies
But now those skies are threatening
They're beating plowshares into swords
For this tired old man that we elected king
Armchair warriors often fail
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers clean up all details
Since daddy had to lie

About bloody time, but I'm not sure how much good it will do.

Amusing bit in the Onion on this subject:

Rumsfeld: 'My Half-Assed Job Here Is Done'

WASHINGTON, DC - After nearly six years of much-publicized service as Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld announced his resignation Wednesday afternoon, saying that he had "proudly accomplished everything [he'd] set out to bungle." "Years ago, I decided to bog this great nation down in an extended, grueling foreign occupation, and I'm happy to say that's exactly what I've done," said Rumsfeld in a farewell address at the White House, during which he urged Americans to continue waging the ill-conceived, mismanaged, and evidently unwelcome fight for democracy in the Middle East. "Each of my actions - from undersupplying troops with body armor to focusing on capturing Saddam Hussein while Osama bin Laden remained free - has led America inexorably toward our current state of extreme crisis. Well, anyway, goodbye!" President Bush expressed confidence that Robert Gates, his new nominee for Secretary of Defense, will be able to "fuck everything up the rest of the way."

Just wait and see. Pelosi will not be able to improve matters at all. Although if she is able to get the troops pulled out, it will re-emphasize to the majority of terrorists that the United States is all talk and no action when it comes to protecting herself. If you can guarantee a long guerrilla warfare period, then the U.S. will stay home because nothing is worth a fight to the U.S.

If you are unlucky because you were not born in the United States, then you must suffer the consequences or figure out how to overthrow your oppressive government by yourselves. Look how wonderful it is to live in North Korea. Electricity is turned off at 9PM every night. But if the people really wanted to, they could overthrow the government--they don't need the help of outsiders and meddlers like the U.S. I mean surely the government allows them to earn money and to order guns over the internet, so they could do it--they just lack will-power. Besides human rights only apply if you are a U.S. citizen.

Hopefully my drift is clear. The people want to hear what they want to hear. "A car in every garage and a chicken in every pot." That's what America needs.

Move along now.

To go off on a "feeling" jag (actually, it violates my "T" sense as well) -- I find it pathetic that Bush refused to cut Rummy loose for months and even years, because he didn't want to admit any culpability for the problems in Iraq.

And as soon as he loses the 2006 election, the very next day Rummy ("I'll never quit! Never!") resigns.

He's just another "fall guy." Bunch of liars.

Politics as usual.

And it reminds me why I will never be a politician.

Wow! Impressive if the date is genuine.
