Who would win? My money goes down for Vanilla Ice.

Let the rap battle begin:

I didn't really like Eminem until Mosh came out. He's got heart. And apparently more staying power.

Ashlee Simpson could kick both their asses!

Then she'll have a hoe-down...on SNL

Eminem is definitely more talented than Vanilla Ice and would win, although Vanilla Ice might try to crush Eminem with his hair.

Not a big fan of either, but I can almost tolerate Eminem.

Vanilla Ice was regretful of his early career. Eminem seems to be too, from what can be inferenced in his lyrics in "Like Toy Soldiers."
Vanilla Ice changed his style, Eminem did a little.
Both were held under scrutiny in the public eye.
Eminem has been a musician/lyricist for over several years and I don't know how short V.I's career was.
VI's was hardcore when he was being funny, and was funny when he was being hardcore. Eminem accomplishes being both at the same time.
I say Eminem wins :D

It looks like someone here knows what their talking about. But the real question is: MC Hammer vs. Vanilla Ice! Can you touch this?

I could see those pants slowing Hammer down rather than giving him magical powers.

The only leg Eminem has to stand on is his "connection" to the "legitimacy" of Dr. Dre, in my opinion.

Vanilla Ice, however, completely blows away any street credibility that the Rap Industry might attempt to display in order to sell records. Vanilla Ice went down as the sacrifical lamb for the illusion the Rap Industry promotes - that there is some kind of artistic integrity that no other music genre can communicate.

Vanilla Ice is clearly the winner...he's discovered what real artistic integrity is about, and the public will forever demand this from him as a performer. Eminem, however, gets to promote his "hardluck" life and "I'm not really white if you close your eyes" fantasies, and people eat that stuff up. You'll never hear an honest rhyme from him.

Sorry, just wondering if you have more examples of VI's integrity as a performer. Seeing that I have been spoonfed VH1 "propaganda" about VI's fudgeup over explaining his ripoff with Ice Ice baby and his assumedly hardcore (at least contemporaneously) video, plus his return to be much more in-your-face-i'm-a-badass-thug return to the music industry, only to flop, and then be made a joke of years later through interviews on MTV and VH1's Surreal Life, it is sad to just pick on the sacrificial lamb. I also want to know how Eminem's portrayal of the hardcore-badass-from-a-bad-background is much different from VI's, since both have done so, and it is also pretty much the story behind most rap-genre artists.
Is it just because VI was first? Or that Eminem just isn't as "real" as VI? Or am I just slow cuz everyone else seems to see it except me? :( or, more likely, is this in the Playground section for good reason?

I say its the scar in his eyebrow that gives VI all of his integrity. I mean, chicks dig a scar right?

Dre might give a lot of cred (I feel so lame using that) to Eminem but doesn't he deserve it? Dr. Dre is a professional rapper and took Eminem under his wing, I would wear that like a badge of honour too.

When I think of Vanilla Ice one of the first things that pops into my head is Milli Vanilli, not Dre.

I mean look at VI's homepage now

It looks like he is copying Eminem. And the latest thing he has done to make news is lose his wallaroo and his goat.

And here is a quote from the Vanilla Ice site from his biography:

It's a true story that Video Killed the Radio Star because music should not be about image. Music should be about the music! I learned the hard way. The new Vanilla Ice is exactly that; no image, no polished made up gimmicks created by record companies. I will never be a puppet for the industry again. From this point on I will keep it real.

You can't say you are keeping it real if you are really keeping it real.

Quiz o' da day...

What did Vanilla Ice do before becoming the ultimate whitey?

Hint, it's the same thing he did for a short time after his "music" career.

Eminem is a lot better. He has a lot of talent you're overlooking, his early work was his best. You just have to understand him to like him, I'd definitely say he's ENTP or INTP, maybe ENFP.

Eminem actually has talent. Listen to his earlier stuff like another poster said. His first 2 albums are classic.

Some random quotes in Eminem's songs about Vanilla Ice
"My nerves hurt, and lately I'm on edge, grab Vanilla Ice and rip out his blonde dreds"
"Vanilla Ice don't like me, said some shit in Vibe to spite me, then died his hair just like me"
