Place your bets. Armstrong's not sure yet.

Allez Jan!

I'm surprised no one else has picked up the discussion, i would have throught more intp's would be attracted to cycling. I have my first big road bike event coming up in about a month. So i wil probably watch the TDF with a lot more interest now. Armstrong has a book out now, something about 'its not the bike'. Do you know if it any good, i was thinking of looking into if for xmas reading.

I'm speculating Ivan Basso will win. Armstrong won't succeed in motivating himself for this one. He's had records to beat (Merckx's old record of 5 victories) up to now, but now he only has himself to beat. Ivan Basso will be very eager to win. I hope Tom Boonen will be able to win an etappe. No Belgians in the top 10 this year.

I don't like Mr. Lone Star State so much. I read his first book, and it's good for historical reference, but not brilliant in the least.

Has anyone been to Le Tour? Several years back they had the Red Zinger Classic, which turned into the Coors Classic. I saw some time trials they had and was kinda amazed at how you could feel the wind from just a few bikers as they rode past.

Without constant updates like they have on TV, I'd think I'd get bored easily not knowing what's going on. Especially if it's not a short circuit.

I get bored when I'm not watching "Short Circuit" too, man. But no, I've never seen a Div 1 pro race. I'd love to. For the fans, it's more about being part of it than watching the race unfold. On a high mountain stage you can watch it fall apart.

Does it count if the tour came to you? If so, twice. If not, only the once.

It's quite fun. You stand around and wait for a long time, then the cars come and hand out free sponsor goodies, then it's another ten minutes or so before the cars of the teams show up, and then the cyclists come. It's over really fast. I don't know if it's worth flying over from the USA for, Robin Williams style, but if you happen to be around when it passes, it's well worth putting it into your schedule.
