This is the hardest game in the world. Can you finish it?

(PS: I did not, once, get bored playing this like I do with almost every other puzzle game)

Very few people have the brainpower to end this game. I finished it, but it took me months and drove me nearly insane.

I think this game was made for INTP's like us. It has everything we love. I'm not gonna spoil it for you, though. You'll probably love it. See for yourself.

Can you tell us more about the gameplay? I'd like to know if I'd be interested enough to download it.

Certainly, I should have given more detail.

You're a knight tasked with cleansing out the Kings dungeon, which has been overrun with bugs and monsters. There are 25 levels in the dungeon and each level consists out of many screens, each screen a self-contained puzzle. The objective in each room is to kill all the monsters with your big sword. Once you've solved all the rooms in a level, you get to descend to the next one.

You can move the knight in any of 8 directions, and your sword too can face in any of those directions. The only moves at your disposal are moving the knight, or rotating the sword clockwise or counterclockwise. First you make one these moves, then the monsters all get their move. There is no time limit or dexterity requirement.

There are a few monsters and potions you can encounter. There is, for example, the simple bug which you encounter almost everywhere, whose only move consists out of taking a step closer to you. If you are northwest of it, it will attempt to walk northwest. If it can't do this (or walk north, or west if there is a wall in it's way), it stands still.

And there is the mimic potion, which spawns a copy of you that you can place anywhere in the room, with it's own sword, who mimics every move you make. You can even stab yourself in the back with this one if you feel shakespearean :) In some rooms you'll be wielding 8 of these at the same time.

I really can't tell you much more because that would spoil what I think is so great about this game. You always have to re-invent the way you play the game, because every room in the game is a different type of puzzle and requires you to invent a different sollution.

It's a relatively small download too. And there are many more fanmade puzzle packs out there if you want (to make) more.

I'm sure. I had the same problem when I tried to download DevC++.

That's a shame. I noticed that under the download section, there's also the option to download the source code. And now that you mention you have a C++ compiler, that might be worth looking into. I don't have any experience in the matter but maybe you can make it work.

It's just a game of course, no harm in losing out on the experience. Don't feel pressured to download or play it. The game was very special to me because it challenged me with the puzzles I'm so good at, and so rarely am challenged with in real life. I simply felt pointing this game out could be a good way for me to contribute something new to this community.

Update. It's driving me freaking bonkers. I still like it. It's like... Chip's Challenge plus that one cat and mouse game that came with Win3.1 plus chess where all the pawns move at the same time and your only piece is a queen.

Hehe. So it begins, jimkopelli. It's definately has elements of chess but with the exception that here, some chess pieces can spawn new pieces of their own and so forth. And there's no en passant killing here either.

I hope you like being driven bonkers, because you're in for a lot more of that. Just wait until you reach the first tar level. That entire floor is so evil to think back to it frightens me more than a horror movie.

I'm replaying the game too, by the way. Goes a lot faster the second time through because you already know how to counter the enemies.
