Lava lamps rule. They are possibly the best thing to trance out on (while listening to trippy ambient beats)
Lately I have not been using my lava lamp as much as I would like to, as the switch is in an inconvenient location.
Odd fact: my lava lamp has purple "lava" and used to have blue "water". Anyway, one day the "water" turned clear. Just like that. I think it had to do with the fact that it was in direct sunlight, however I still think its weird enough to mention.

Odd. Our lava lamp just happens to be on at this exact moment, even though this is the first time it's been on in like 9 months. My brother turned it on earlier. It's from 1972... has a "happy father's day" tag on it from some unknown family.
Did you hear about the guy who tried to warm up his lava lamp on his stove? It exploded and shot a piece of glass into his heart. What a way to go.

It's a small world. One of my employee's wife works with the mother of that guy and he within a couple miles of my work. Apparently he was sort of a quiet, curious sort who did experiments and dabbled in science stuff on his own.
He could've been an INTP. I've done stupid shit like that without thinking it all the way through.

Mine's never on. If it is on, I don't usually pay attention to it.

This has urban legend written all over it. "My friend's mom's friend heard of this one guy who said he knew this other guy that saw a missile hit the space shuttle columbia!" "NO SHIT? I knew a guy who's girlfriend's brother's girlfriend's ex-roommate saw that too!"

Exploding lava lamp kills Kent man
06:02 AM PST on Tuesday, November 30, 2004
Associated Press
KENT, Wash. - A 24-year-old man who placed a lava lamp on a hot stovetop was killed when it exploded and sent a shard of glass into his heart, police said.
"Why on earth he was heating a lava lamp on the stove, we don't know," Kent Police spokesman Paul Petersen said Monday.
Phillip Quinn's parents found his body in his Kent trailer home at about 8 p.m. Sunday. They went to check on him after his girlfriend reported that she couldn't get in touch with him.
The King County Medical Examiner's office estimated the time of his death at 2 p.m. Sunday.
After the lamp exploded, Quinn apparently stumbled into his bedroom, where he died, Petersen said.
Police found no evidence of drug or alcohol use.

When I read "Exploding lava lamp kills Kent man," just now, it gave me the willies. I'm a Kent man! That could have been me! Sure, Kent, Ohio and Kent, Washington are two completely different cities, but still!

Maybe the power company had cut his power off for late payment, and he couldn't get the little blobs to spin around anymore...

I answered that lava lamps suck in the polls, for unknown reasons since I usually trance out on my vision screen when music plays on the computer.
