The list of possible careers for INTPs includes webmaster. Anyone here live off the income their websites bring in either through ads or sales? I'm am considering firing up a couple of websites based on a few subjects that I have interest in that are relatively sparsely covered. On subject is mostly covered by personal home pages and sections of a more general subject so I may be able to pull down a top Google ranking with a strong showing.
Since I have just started researching this, I was hoping I could garner some input from you experienced types. Any/all info or opinions greatly appreciated.

For me the first step is hire someone who knows how to design. I don't do design, but I can code faster and more efficiently than any web designer I've ever found. The designer does graphics/layout, I do the code and manage the content, it's a nice deal.

Hmmm... I don't know anything about design or coding other than I used to headhunt high tech for a short time. Maybe I'm meddling somewhere I don't belong.
How would a total noob start out without hiring anyone? What books or websites would be good sources of info?

could you explain a bit more about what you want to do? I personally don't think it would be easy to make money off the web.. the one person I knew who did that was into reselling/affiliate systems and SEO... course she is a little but of a nutcase..

I have been looking at affiliate and ad systems. Google Adsense is touted to be a good starting point and being an affiliate more involved and risky. I would like to make some side income and learn how to develop a presence on the web. Another thing that I can add to my repretoire of semi-mastered skills.
I wouldn't mind also learning the intricacies and challenges of selling products or services on the web but I think that it would be much more time consuming and risky to do so.
