Joft and I and a few others are in the lower pennisula of Michigan. (Sorry vennerationOFrabbits)
No one cares, eh?
I was born in Grand Rapids, where I lived for the first and so far most forgettable year of my life. I have lots of family in Michigan. That side of my family seems to be entirely composed of quiet, sullen, humorless people, grasping for something to believe in and always coming up empty handed.
Vacationing up there as a kid was like walking into a post apocalyptic world. A nightmare world crushed under the weight of countless feet of snow, a place where soft drinks are referred to as "pop."
Of course I want to go back there, if only to verify my memories and scream my frustrations across empty fields.

I think MI is one of the better states to live in.

The central point sounds like it would be Lansing. Hmm...

I spent 2 years in Kalamazoo and 7 years in Grand Rapids and I pretty much agree with you. However, if you venture north of West Branch, yet remain below the bridge you'll find some more engaging characters and far fewer vast open fields. Go in the summer though. Winter blows.

Winter is crazy here. Frozen wasteland, all of a sudden two feet of snow drop in February -- not that odd, right? Two weeks or so later -- all melted. IT IS STILL WINTER.

Joft sounded interested in me just coming over or something, I wonder if he and pooja would be willing to meet up somewhere in between k'zoo and Ann Arbor.

Then I wonder, How hard would it be to simply have us all meet at Joft's place or some diner in Kalamazoo?
