Introducing myself; Håkon aka Hawkon. I just got to know that there is a place for people like me! (Woha! No, not called 'institutions' but close).

The other day a friend of mine messaged me his typelogic.com description (ENTP, as far as I can remember). I got curious, of course, and did my test. I was stunned by the matching description of my result (INTP) and I found my way to this forum.

I haven't had the time to look around too good yet, though. But I'm getting there.

I do, however, feel that I am a very unique (weird is more appropriate, perhaps?) INTP in the way that I had a very weird 'transformation' a few years back, 'turning' into an INTP. All the way up till I was 17 years old I was more of the social type, playing all sorts of sports, going out with friends every night, being the social center of the group. I was an athlete and had skiing (telemark/free-heel) as my major at high-school sort of thing (Norwegian school system) and competed in the Norwegian Cup. Had some nice results but during the second year I had a weird breakdown. I stopped. Skiing getting too boring - I don't know. Doctors couldn't tell what I had, my coach told me I overstressed (9 practices per week).

I found myself in front of the computer. I had never really been interested in computers and technical stuff such as computers, but I rapidly learned how a computer worked, how the operating system worked, windows, linux, BSD - all the way.
As with everything else, I expected the computer to get boring after a couple of years. In everything I do, I put all my effort to it. Such as cars. Large investments, sudden project death - heck, I have done 3 engine swaps on a turbocharged car in half a year, getting all my experience from trying and failing plus reading about it.
My point is that computers never stopped amusing me. I had a job at a small IT-business as the NOC & Sysadm. I did, however, manage to get back to high-school which I'm trying to finish the last year of now (I'm 21 at this time).

One thing that's on my mind is the relationship I have with my girlfriend. When we got together, I was this social, urge-for-adrenaline, active and open guy. She is the same. During the last years I've changed into the stay-home-by-myself and occationaly watch a movie with a friend. We've had a pretty serious relationship though, so we can't split up. The problem is my interests change continously and I'm never the "hang out and do cool stuff"-type.

More to come.. I'm just overwelmed by the fact that there's a place for people like me :D Sorry for the long post. Please feed me anything that can help me solve my personality mystery.

Velkommen. :hello:

Hm, athlete turned geek? That's interesting.
Still, I think I can understand you - at that age I wouldn't have let anyone turn me into a professional athlete (or musician in my case), because it would have deprived me of choice and pushed aside all my other interests. Was that how you felt, or was there another reason?

(I would have loved to do telemark skiing in school though - if only I'd had any talent... )

tjena Boneca :)

well, (as I'm pretty new to this social classing system) I haven't thought about it in a new way yet.. I think I dropped off because it was something I may have felt that I was mastering, or at least gotten into. I don't know if I quit because I got tired of it or if I just didn't want to be bent like a jelleyman between other people.

As I wrote in my first post, I didn't really become this interest-changing INTP after that incident. It could've triggered my personality or it was just a maturing process.
I'm certain that it changed my life in a social way, as I prefere to sit by myself instead of hanging out with my girlfriend...
