- you can promise to do something, not do it, and nobody minds or thinks less of you. Madrigal with her forest threads, me with my dungeons & dragons game and the news post thing. There are other examples. That's actually a great thing.

- there are some exceptionally clever and creative people here. I think booyalab has a great sense of humor, Hustler goes very deep, MacGuffin is a good sport, and so on... you don't find people like these easily.

- Occasionally, someone says something truly insightful.

I don't think less of you (I've done exactly the same thing with my friends many times), but I was quite disappointed when you stopped doing the D&D game. I was having a blast.

Anyways, the thing that I like about this forum is that people actually read and try to understand the posts here. Even when they are poorly written, transparent & shallow, or just plain stupid. You get a real response no matter what you write that will probably give you a new perspective on what you are thinking about.

Even though people don't like to admit it, I also think that people on this forum genuinely care about each other. I think that I have more respect for people in this community than any other community I have come across on the web. I have briefly gone to some of the spin-off forums that have come from this one, and while many of them claim people around here are feeling-challenged assholes, I think they are really just don't understand the difference between being critical of an idea, and being critical of a person. You can get a unique, non-sugar coated opinion on anything here, and people will only judge your idea, not you.

Yes, I liked the way you played the game, Xenophon, and I was having fun with how you played it as well, but the other characters were being more work than fun for me. Which I could have handled, after all, my dungeon was kick ass, if I do say so myself, and I was curious to see how you would all handle the puzzles and riddles and mysteries I had set up - but that damn battle with those kobolds was too much for me. Drawing a map for each move people made, then the whole bitching about the magic - all combined with my having to learn all the rules and how to go about doing this thing. It was overload.
