View Full Version : INTP WAR:will you fight it?

I was watching the show future weapons and realised that INTPs will fight the wars of tomorrow. For no other reason then the fact the wars of the future will be fought with engineering, and computer science (both things INTPs do extremely well). So one day it may be that some people here on INTPc or elsewhere will be facing off with other INTPs in engineering the next big advantage for their nation in war, they will kill, that is almost certain but would you do this? Would you be the soldier of the future war?

Note: many wars have already been fought with INTPs but the future shows that INTP involvement will most likely increase.

All those FPS & RTS gamers will be the real soldiers - actually, governments should hire the winners of such tournaments as soldiers in the military of the future, if they aren't doing so already.

The ESFJs won't know what hit them. :D

Seriously though, they don't need us to fight the war. We'll be the ones working for the defence contractors.

Yeah, and... how many INTPs out there are zealously attached to causes/ideologies, anyway?

Once they invent remotely controlled floating mini space crafts with guns mounted on them. And each craft is controlled by a gamer then hell yeah!

My brother takes that prize....wants to join military+one of the best FPS players=mass murder...

Nah. Well, maybe if I could be a diplomat. People and compromise make interesting puzzles.

coming from an intj, no. that's most of the reason why I don't want to go into engineering. Everyone I know who has makes war machines.

I have a degree in a field that has made major contributions to weapons development in the past. I will starve to death before I work for a defense contractor.

Let's hypothesize for a moment here that I am an engineering genius...
I would never get into militiary projects for the sake of success or wealth. If a warmongering nation was to train it's sights on my country or a defenseles country that I knew couldn't stand a chance, I would be compelled to join in such an effort.
The biggest leson we should learn from world war 2 is that an evil world power doesn't leave the quiet nations alone. If such a power were to strike at a country without provocation, it must be seen as a strike on your own homeland.

Nothing wrong with that... I did before my signature was legally binding...

Also, it'll be INTX involvement and a combination of the two will be required to translate the ideas into reality. As said above, it's already going on.

Quite correct. My INTx though I am tending towards P father worked for a company producing air to groud/air missiles. I have no reason to doubt that the majority of people working in that profession in an engineering capacity are of the type.

Hm, I think I would fight in wars that are like war games, it sounds like an interesting challenge and I am very interested in strategizing in generall. I would be less interested in designing the machines/devices, I'd rather use them to defeat the opponent. Of course there are certain moral implications that come with this, but well, there will always be war, there is war right now, so I might as well have a fun job instead of just watching the war on TV.

I would think that INTPs were probably be more interested in designing new and innovative means of destruction  rather than controlling the actual war.

RTS gamers have one advantage - they are used to slaughtering their own troops if it's an effective strategy. Like, sometimes I send a squad of marines to die, because I need to create a subterfuge. I know that every single marine and medic will be ground down into the floor, but if it will give me a window of opportunity to quickly overrun and destroy base while enemy has to pull their forces back, well... So be it.

So an RTSer understands that in certain situations sending groups of people to certain death will save more troops for later, and is not afraid to bury couple grand of soldiers into the ground to create opportune situation. I can already see sour faces of my future soldiers.

FPSers have advantages too, they are used to the idea of shooting a human being, in fact, some of them are more than comfortable with the idea. So they have advantage over someone who only fired at paper targets because they would be less likely to hesitate. Hell, some fpsers will shoot anything without any hesitation - women, children, house pets, flower pots...

My current physics teacher said something along these lines: The only reason you are learning physics is to make better weapons.

The future war will not be fought with soldiers(at least not from the west) it will be fought with robots becuase when you think about a robot, it is resistant to chemical and biological attack for the most part, obeys orders, no "death count" for democratic governments to struggle with and they cost much less...no training, no pension, no worries, easily reapired too...(one gun shot can kill a normal soldier it takes much more to kill a robotic instrument)

Thus, hackers/security specialists might become an important instrument in war, for all attacks will have to be wireless...and hackable.
So no worries about sacrificing your own soldiers...just keep the killing budget man....

Man, gamers will become the most important tool for governments in a few years...funny enough soon they will be seen as the new defenders of freedom and justice...FPS gamers will be in charge of specialized units, and RTS gamers will be generals of vast attack forces....scary isn't it....

Remote control robots? :D haha

Actually, this is what will happen: I will be the person to successfully develop an Artificially Intelligent system of modules and architectures which will allow a computer to learn. I will sell the code to sony. then, sony will create millions or robots which they will call PS4s, and they will fight the wars and maybe terminate the human race as well.

Some time ago I found this interesting document which deals with the possible nature of future warfare and focuses on how China could combat the USA effectively by using unconventional means. (the authors are two Chinese generals from what I understand)

Mh, I think if robotic forces were to be deployed they would probably be fully automated and would not need gamers to control them. And I also see no need to replace professional generals with gamers, the generals have proper training and experience, and most RTS are very simplified, maybe players of hardcore war-games could replace existing commanders but I see no reason for that actually.

The role of geeky INTX will most likely be limited to designing the robots and stuff, not actually piloting them  .

No robots are not going to be trusted enough to do the killing by themselves...terminator might just have become the most important literature regarding the subject and public opinion. So no auto robotic killing machines for at least 20 years... as for china becoming big on this idea...I agree there but I still see the US dominance in this area continuing for a few years at least.
