View Full Version : INTP Reaction to the Non-INTP Reaction to the INTP-only forum

I don't get it. I mean I predicted it, but it doesn't make it any less irrational.

I wrote this in a PM:

The forum will pretty much function as before. If you look at the INTP-only forum, there are only three threads (now four), all concerning the issue of an INTP-only forum. It is designed to be slower, plus readable to all so someone can start a response thread if they so desire.

Every once in a while there is an issue where it is nice to get an INTP discussion. It is hard sometimes to read a thread and pull out the INTP posts. Most recently, for example, there was a point where the NFs nearly took over the mindmates thread. Not all their responses were bad per se, but several of them didn't quite understand the concept. I had to start a soulmates thread to draw them off.

I have recently discussed with another INTJ that the INTP-only forum should just be an NT-only forum. Their reasoning was INTJs and INTPs are alike enough for common understanding the vast majority of the time. I am inclined to agree, but that is perhaps something for the future. For now, just view it as an experiment.

Eh, I'm a little miffed. I couldn't give a crap whether you edit or delete a post, but if it's out there, I think people ought to be able to comment on it.
Who says anyone can't comment on it? Maybe not on this thread, but that doesn't stop someone from cutting and pasting a quote somewhere else. Like I just did.

I'm still waiting to see how much more AWESOMELY the INTPs are going to shine over there.
C'mon INTPs do your thing.
We ARE. That's why you're HERE.

I don't still see the point.

In theory, it sounds wonderful.

In practice, it won't matter worth anything. People will just post wherever they want, regardless of who has access. It seems like a waste of effort and focus, to me.

Ah, you beat me to it . . .

I was reading the paper just now, and this thread title popped into my head as well.

Hey... Is this thread implicitly opening the door to stuff like INTPs smuggling posts in from non-INTPs?

If so, I'd like to announce to the non-INTPs that I'll gladly smuggle your posts into this forum--for a price to be determined by the hotness of the idea.

We shall see. What is your take on the Non-INTP reaction to it? If it goes like you expect, isn't it a lot of angst over nothing?

Great, nay, brilliant minds think alike. Thank God non-INTPs aren't in here to infect us! Ew!

I'm waiting for the reaction thread to this reaction thread. Then a reaction to that one. For ever and ever, amen.

I think the next step is to divide the INTP-only forum into subforums in exactly the same way the entire forum is split up.

Complete with a non-INTP section of the INTP-only forum? Is that where we stick all the people we want to claim are not real INTPs?

Oh yeah, I forgot to post my reaction. It's this: the whinarz need to STFU. Until then, I guess I have no choice but to point and laugh.

You just quoted the Animaniacs (I think), therefore, you are the shit.
LOL, first INTP to give their unwanted opinion on that thread!

I was curious who it'd be.

But I didn't actually reply to any of the arguments/opinions they'd presented. What I did was the equivalent of interrupting the people you're with by randomly yelling "Oh look, a puppy!" One could hardly call that "giving an opinion."

Oh, and :P

It was fairly annoying.

Me like.

I don't get it. I mean I predicted it, but it doesn't make it any less irrational.

People's reactions don't nessecarily have to be irrational. Different INTPs - different logic systems. While presented to the same information we connect the dots in different ways and end up different places.

However, in this case, I don't think all INTPs or non-INTPs were presented to the same amount of information. While the information was mostly all out in the open, it was only available as posts in long threads. Infact, to obtain a bigger picture, you would have to go back a pretty long time and read all the threads related to the INTP sub-forum idea. Afterwards, you would have to milk older member for juicy gossip to connect the things which wasn't written in those threads.

So on top of different reasoning, you could ad lack of insight plus feelings and perhaps political correctness.

Question also is, does it matter? Or to use the INTJs favourite question "does it work?". Well, that's what we're about to find out and in between that I'll put on my open optimistic glasses and just hope for the best.

No, but I'd knew we'd get one in this case. It was one of my initial objections to the idea.

That's finally what I decided. To see if this idea will work or not.

Heh, negative reactions? Not, creating this forum provided the board with negative reactions as well. Again...

I don't understand the point of making such a big deal out of this. This is one forum out of 25 main forums where people have the option to post i.e. there are 24 other forums plus real life where we can, and for most part I suspect, get all the diversity we need.

What was discussed before reaching this decision?
- Dunbars number.
- The desires of a group of INTP who wished to have the option to withdraw.

...and if this don't work, it can just be shut down again.
...again again...what's the big deal?

So far . . . this reminds me of people standing on a new car lot and arguing the particulars of a given car.

It could be this, it could be that . . . Yet, no one has driven the car.

We can't test for effectiveness until the majority of those in the discussion actually begin driving the car.

What I find interesting is that I don't think there has ever been so much action going on in non-INTP forum as there seem to be at this moment. It's kind of nice to be able to help another driver who's batteries has gone dead by borrowing him/her your jumper cables:) .

Are you kidding. They don't want the jumper cables . . . they want our car. :)

So what exactly was the reaction?

I read it but I don't think I got it, they were offended?

I'm bored.

I'm not sure. It's impossible to understand what the hell they're on about between all the fluff and emoticons and illogical nonsense.
