Okay, I've installed the latest version of firefox. Does anyone have a config hack for the scroll bar? Everytime I click a link the scrollbar disappears in anticipation of loading a new page and the web page resizes to adjust. This may seem petty to some, but for gawds sake, it is driving me nuts!!!

Basically, how can I set FireFox to always have a scrollbar and/or reserve the space for it along the right hand side of the screen?

*screen redraws as Groty hits submit*

Wow, my stab in the dark attempt worked! It gives you both scrollbars, though -- vertical and horizontal.

In userContent.css, put this:

body { overflow: scroll; }

If you don't know where userContent.css is, look here: http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/edit

or use the chromedit extension to edit it... garak, do you think you should do.. body { overflow: scroll !important; } ?

/*
* This file can be used to apply a style to all web pages you view
* Rules without !important are overruled by author rules if the
* author sets any. Rules with !important overrule author rules.

Ah yeah I forgot about the !important, a good idea.

Umm sorry for being noob yet again, but it seems that I cannot listen to music that is supposed to be auto-played on a page while using Firefox. Any adjustments in the toolbar or something I could fiddle with to make music on pages work? I've already tried looking at the options but couldn't find anything useful :/

Strange, mine plays these things automatically, and annoyingly ( this is a very old computer and it doesn't like surprises ). Go to Options, Downloads, and look in File Types to see which utility is responsible for, say, MIDI, and for WAV. Most inbedded music's one or the other.

Mine says open with IRFANVIEW, because that's the default utility I use on windows, but you could change it to MediaPlayer or whatever you like. If there's nothing listed there at all, have you associated these files in Windows or whichever OS you're using, with a player ?

[ Thankfully, FF doesn't open up the player, but I'm guessing that it uses it to interpret the music-file: if it doesn't then I'm lost. ]

my page has music linked to it which is playable when using IE but not FF. not that it's a big problem or anything, but just wondering why and if I can change that.

overflow-x:, and overflow-y: are for the individual scrollbars

Does anyone know : Did Groty ever get FireFox to work to his satisfaction ? ( Yes, yes, I know all of you use it and love it ... but, it's Groty's computer I'm wondering about ... because I never have anything expectable, happen with mine ... )

*I know that's not a word - go away*

edit : I'm not, actually, feeling as snarky as this post sounds - Facts :dont: Matter sent a soothing message... and I'm finding the posts and links comprehensible ( thanks, folks )
It's that I said I'd put any questions here -- and I'm hoping this is going to be my only one. :)
Also, I love the title that Groty gave this thread. :)
