as in, the movie. I loved this movie so much I saw it twice in theaters and now I have it on DVD (a gift) -- and I almost never watch movies. It's somewhat convoluted, so you can watch it a number of times and you continue to learn things -- i.e. a mental challenge, which is fun. And the music and colors and the general "environment" I think really appeals to my Si. Some of the scenes seem almost magical.
Any of you see it? The INTP that actually got the DVD for me had also seen it and she didn't like it. Thought it was boring. Odd, I thought.

I downloaded it off the internet a few weeks ago. I have mixed feelings about it.
The fight scenes were it's major strength and weakness. Weakness because you were always dragged out of the story. The plot was rather believable, concentrating mostly on a battle of wits between numerous people. Then when the ridiculously unrealistic fighting started, you were immediately dragged out of that state of belief, and confronted with the fact that this is just a movie.
But positive was that every minute, you were shown something new. You never knew what was going to happen next, as everything that happened was something you had never seen before, surpassing as it did everything that had been done on video before it. I especially thought the scenes with the arrows were amazing.

Yeah I found myself having to "go along" with the fight scenes. But I think I mostly managed to do that.
I just saw House of the Flying Daggers last night, I liked Hero a lot better. I actually really enjoy the fight scenes. They are a bit unrealistic but the are gorgeous. The scene on the rooftop was amazing. I actually saw it before it was released in theatres, my friend bought the DVD on ebay from China.

I also just saw the House of Flying Daggers yesterday. I liked Hero quite a bit but I didn't like the House of Flying Daggers at all. I thought it was just a bungled police operation with a convoluted plot. But Hero was one of the few new movies I enjoyed watching.

I kept waiting for the big fight scene between the police and the Flying Daggers. That was a huge disappointment for me, too many plot holes that would have been so enjoyable to fill.

Same here. It just seemed that some people died and nothing really happened.
