I think it makes sense to make it official - from what I've been told March 16th, 17th and 18th is the meet-up dates. Well, it better since some of us have already reserved non-refundable flights and hotels.

Hooks
Feel free to post the hotel and your date/time of arrival. When it gets closer to the day we should find a central location for everyone to meet up - something to reflect the various times people will be arriving. Check this thread for updates to that. I'll edit the first post to reflect any updates to the meet.

Strangers with Candy
If you are concerned about meeting a bunch of people off the internet I'd recommend asking for the address and phone of another member that will be attending this. This is something you can give your family... really it is just a sign of good faith.

File Cabinet, Dr Haight and myself started this nonsense so I guess that makes us the responsible parties. I'll be happy to provide my information and I'm sure the other two would as well.

I'll have my cell phone on during the trip, I'll PM people the number as we get closer. This will make it easier to get everyone to meet up in a central location. Unless someone else wants the job.

Minneapolis
Those of you leaving Minneapolis want to meet up before this we will, of course, be having a pre-vegas party, probably a week or two before the event. I'll start a separate thread for that as we get closer.

Skype
We may also have a Skype for this to talk about ideas and such. Details to follow in a separate thread

Reservations
This shit fills up quickly, you may want to make your reservation soon. Most places allow you to buy a cancellation service - expedia has one for $40. It will let you cancel the trip for any reason.

Itinerary
I haven't booked this but I will this week: I should arrive in Vegas at 4:00pm on Thursday, I'll be staying at The Westin and leaving on Monday.

Edit New: It's OFFICIAL!
Friday we have special events!

3:00PM - 5:00PM Friday: Early Dinner / Drinking
Where: Pink Taco in the Hard Rock Hotel
What: This is for people arriving early, lunch to waste time

8:00PM Friday - SUNDAY: Drinking
Where: Nine Fine Irishmen Pub in New York New York ALLADIN CENTER BAR SOMETHING

Apparently there's a steep cover charge there this weekend, on account of some St. Paddy's based festival they're having. In light of that, we probably ought to switch venues. My vote would be for the Aladdin center bar. Pass it along to C-Whore and have him amend the post if you want to do that.
What: This is the OFFICIAL 100% INTP CENTRAL MEETUP. Plan to come here to meet anyone who's anyone! After this we'll be splitting into like-minded groups and/or ignoring and/or evading those that don't agree with our socio-political beliefs.

If only I had $800, I'd be getting a reservation now.

Edit: If I fly out from Chicago, prices half! Hell yeah!

March Madness, baby! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_NCAA_Men's_Division_I_Basketball_Tournament) You, my friend, need to take your ass to the sports book in Caesar's Palace any time after 9:21 AM, on Thursday March 15th until around 9 PM that Sunday night after the first weekend games end. Forget everything you've heard from Miss America pageant announcers, there's is truly electricity in the air come tourney time.

Actually, any sports book will do, but Caesar's is kinda legendary. It's the only time I could tolerate cigar smoke/pastrami/Miller Lite beer and Brut after shave smell all rolled into one. Of course, that was when the mob ran Vegas. Now that is all corps, it may not have that homey smell.

I, personally, like to run across the street and make the majority of my bets at Barbary Coast, generally a little more favorable odds/payouts. I'd stay away from the Belagio and other really high end casinos that never have boxing as far as picking a sports book. Keep it real!

If you're going, make sure to bring something green for the trip. It's St. Patrick's day on that Saturday, and things logged in your nose do not count.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure that CW is going to pick up the bar tab on Friday night.

I think I heard that somewhere . . .

I got a good deal on i4vegas.com. It was during superbowl otherwise I would have been comped.

Im going to try to make it. Gotta check the comps.

Please PM me with details, updates, offers as I rarely thumb through the threads anymore.

I will also be going back in April 6-9 as Harrahs invited me for a tounament.

Vegas is way cool.

Ha, my mom's first concert ever was that guy. I'd be willing to sit through an evening of his weave if it meant I would actually be at the meet-up. Sadly, my spring break starts the following weekend. *shakes fist at the heavens* Seriously though, if you guys are gonna be at the Hilton you should check out the Star Trek Experience while you're there. It's nerdy but ultimately really, really cool.

Last time I was there was on the day of the first official flight of SpaceShipOne (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceShipOne) for the Ansari X-Prize (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ansari_X_Prize). My parents and I had driven out to Mojave to see the launch and decided to keep going on to Vegas just to go to the Star Trek Experience. I can say from experience that there's nothing like having a Klingon insult you for only being able to make sub-orbital while you're sitting there trying to eat your lunch.

In my living room with the only light being provided by the muted television's scrolling "what the fuck is on right now?" channel while I cradle a half-empty bottle of Crown Royal and whimper quietly and pout. The sounds of the greatest party ever drift through the kitchen window and I slowly doze off and start drooling all over the arm of my uncomfortable couch. In the back of my mind I know I'll wake up the next morning with a headache and a really pinched nerve in my shoulder/neck from using the bottle as a pillow and sleeping in an awkward position.

Well, Carrot Top is easy. You can shoot me if you can out-draw me, and I'm able to go from holster/safe to two aimed shots in under a second and a half, so you might want to get some practice in.

My attention was first captured in 1977 by an album called Love at the Greek. What I heard were touching lyrics surrounded by musical sounds, like a warm blanket on a cold winters night. Little did I realize that these "beautiful noises" would have such a profound impact on my life and this most unexpected musical career.

So touching.

128' X 56'10" IMAGE OF HILTON HEADLINER BARRY MANILOW
FEATURED ON PROPERTY'S MAIN TOWER

LAS VEGAS- The Las Vegas Hilton is now home to the largest hand painted mural in Las Vegas, with the 128' X 56'10" image of Hilton headliner Barry Manilow on display on the property's main tower (South facing).

The mural was installed over a five day period using a grid system to prepare the image and three painters using brushes and rollers to complete the finished mural on Saturday, February 3.

"We wanted to reflect Barry's presence at our property in a big and unique way, said Ken Ciancimino, Las Vegas Hilton executive vice president. "It can't get much bigger than this and, just like Barry, it will have staying power-the elements can't affect it."

Sky Tag, the company responsible for the mural, specializes in spectacular images in metropolitan areas. It digitally prints large building wraps; paints super-sized supergraphics; and designs the largest murals in the United States. This is the biggest superstar mural the company has painted in Las Vegas.

Manilow opened "Music and Passion" at the Las Vegas Hilton on February 23, 2005 and in March 2006, the resort extended his exclusive long-term engagement through 2008.

No, but I heard him interviewed on the radio. At first I didn't know it was him because his speaking voice is deeper than his singing voice. He said that he started out as a session pianist in NYC and he had expected that to be the extent of his career; his success as a singer surprised him. He sounded like a nice, down-to-earth guy.

Groovy news! Have a most excellent time, people, and I'll be very interested in reading about how it goes.

I was born in Vegas, and <3 that city. I would attend if it were practical. But it's not (practical) at this time. Those miles before landing (via airplane) in Vegas are something spectacular; please take note and remember! The wild, wild west is still (believe it or not) pretty wild.

Unfortunately, and more importantly, the reason I won't be attending is a conference I have been planning to attend here in SF on the 22nd. And as much as I love the open road, there is such thing as too much of a good thing (travel) in such a short amount of time.

In Las Vegas, we play Trivial Pursuit for $100/pie. The other common method is to play for $100/pie + if you win a pie, you have to take a double shot of tequila.

Precisely, my LV friend. But I believe you forgot to mention this part of the deal:

And if you lose a pie, you have to take a pie in the face. No compromise.

Ouch! And sorry; I could not help myself! Methinks some of us LV natives might have our own silly and warped brand/sense of humor.

Interesting how you try to make it our hour of darkness..

Anyway, aside from all your witty remarks, I have a question for you natives of the United States area:

How much is it (rather, where is it cheapest) to rent a car in San Francisco for the drive to Las Vegas? I would prefer a convertible one, something like the car you can spot in this picture:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/44/Fearandloathing.jpg/250px-Fearandloathing.jpg

Hopefully, someone will keep an eye on the road when I drive, unlike what those two gentlemen in the picture do.

I would prefer a convertible one, something like the car you can spot in this picture. The drive from San Fran to Vegas isn't so breezy. You're much closer to Reno and Tahoe from there. Unless you're already planning on renting a car, which driving to surrounding Bay areas that might not be such a bad idea, I would reccommend Southwest Airlines or American West Airlines for cheaper rates. You'd probably be just as well off not having a car in Vegas if you're just going to hit the strip or go downtown. At least from a w/e tourist pov.

Sounds reasonable. As you guessed, I'm thinking of renting a car to get around the area anyway. But if I don't , I'll keep those airlines in mind, thanks.
