LONDON - After almost 30 years of arguing that a black hole swallows up everything that falls into it, astrophysicist Stephen Hawking backpedaled Thursday. In doing so, he lost one of the most famous bets in recent scientific history.
Well hot damn. I figured the NT people here would appreciate this story.

I do appreciate the story. It causes me to look up to Stephen Hawking more than I did before. One who never changes his mind seldomly gets respect from me.

I am really fascinated with Hawkin and his discussions. That article isnt overly helpful. Does anyone know where a transcript of the Dublin discussion will be availible to read? I would love to get ahold of it and find out why he changed his point of view. Thanks.

consistency is highly overrated
Until someone experiments with a black hole. All theories remain theories.
