hats are funny objects. i like to wear my hat when i go travelling. it gives a sense of "home" persay. like a snail and his shell.
Gives me a different feeling when I interact with the world. Sometimes I can trip myself out by wearing a my travel hat to everyday things and i feel like a traveler lookin on the situation, making it seem new and more observeresque; a cool effect.

hmm, speakin of which i havnt seen that hat in a while....hmmm

I am not a hat wearer. The only time I do is when I haven't showered and my hair is going everywhere. I would say there are too many hats out there too.

those fedoras that men used to wear mid-20th century are pretty sweet.

Ah yes. I often wish formal attire and near-mandatory hat wearing hadn't gone out the window in favor of bis-cas. Because it looks good, and if you wear a hat like that now you look like a fag (Not that there's anything wrong with that).

When I was in college I got sick of seeing all the baseball cap-wearing frat guys. Personally I'd like to see a little bit more variety and creativity when it comes to hats. I think the old reason for hats was to cover up bald spots, which is something I'll probably have to worry about soon. lol Basically guys started wearing them when male wigs started becoming unpopular. Now it seems like the 21st Century thing to do is to shave one's head. I see a lot of "skinheads" out there nowadays even in the business world.

We got my sister a hat for x-mas and she likes it.

She's worn it twice since then.

I like hats. I have several interesting ones that I wear out in plublic. Absolutely no baseball-style hats. They’re just so commonplace. Lame.

People aren't buying as many hats as they used to per capita.

I think on the right person a hat is dashing.

Dashing?

Haven't heard that one outside a b&w movie!

I'm a sucker for a girl with her hair tied back and a baseball-style cap almost covering her eyes. I'll wear one when I neglect to cut my hair for too long (now), or when I basically shave it in the summer for under-helmet airflow. I've just gotten a stocking cap for the cold, but lost it in the apt. somewhere. *looks around*

More likely because 1/8 of body heat is lost through the head. Also to keep the sun off. Never worn a hat, except at school, a sort of Aussie half-sider, probably to annoy teachers, cos they look silly with long hair.

Shudders.

Shaving the head used to be for the unfortunate mental patients, God knows why. Brutish looking.

I don't have a problem with the baseball caps.. but I dated a baseball player, so I got use to them real fast. The nascar and trucker hats I can live without... I do like the older styles for men.. not so much for women. I own 3 hats. 1 red floppy thing that says flirt. (my mom got it for me for Valentine's day.) It doesn't move from the corner post on my bed. The other two are just winter hats to keep muh head warm and stuff. :)

i like to wear my akubra and my jackaroo, but i have very defined tastes with the jackaroo, i like it to be swagman, fairly firm, brown and be of a medium-large size. i also like wearing my cadet bush hat or a lemon squeeze scout hat.

You just started this whole topic just so you could use "pari passu"...c'mon, admit it. You don't care about hats one bit!

Edmond Zedo

I had no idea it could be a real topic to contemplate, you are correct. I wanted to quote Monty Python and mock the scourge of polls on the forum at the same time. Fitting, I thought.

I hate hats. I wear a visor when I go golfing, and that's it.

I missed the reference to Monty Python, which bit is it from?

Oh, and Pari Passu is in general usage when you are talking about stocks and shares. It is much easier to say 'the new shares will rank pari passu" then it is to set out an identical set of conditions! I see it quite a lot through work and my tendency in doing it to review share agreements.

Can't remember a Pari Passu hat reference before though.

Hats are fun. I don't use them to protect from the sun, just for style. I don't wear many hats at all, in fact, I only own one. It is a black fuzzy hat, and it is cool.

Word on the street is Jimmy Hats are coming back into style, its about time. I haven't worn one for a while (I'm Married), but I thought about wearing one again for old time sake. I find I sweat quite a bit when I'm wearing one though. Does anybody know if they make them with sweat bands?

Edmond Zedo

Some now have a receptacle tip, that might take care of the "sweat."

I invariably look comical in a hat. It doesnt matter how or what I try. i was shopping with my sister last weekend, and even though I was looking pretty decent, I cant so much as try on something like a snowboarding beanie without guffaws all round. What is it with englishmen and hats, our heads just dont look right with hats :hello:

Sadly hats almost never work for me. I love the concept, anything to reduced the amount of me that is visable is a beautiful idea. However while I find my apearance absurd on its own most of the time, it always seems as if a hat is drawing attetion, not deflecting it away as intended. So 99% of the time I am hatless.............oddly however I will wear one today, cause it is sooooo damn cold I dont care how stupid I look!

I hate people who wear weird hats.

I avoid wearing hats because they mess up my hair. I go with hoods when possible.

I like hats, but I don't usually wear them. I made my sister a hat for Christmas. It was a lovely crocheted hat, but her friend made her a knitted hat, so the bitch stole my thunder.

But my sister loves me better. Ergo, my hat is better.

The term men without hats (aside from being an 80's band from Canada with one hit- The Safety Dance) is Canadian slang for "sexually charged, permiscuous, and horny men". (I think. I'm not really too up on my Canadian slang.) Yeah. You know you care.
