Hi people.

I just found this forum through some random googling of intpness, and thought I should say "hi."

Okay, is it me, or does the preceding sentence sound really dumb? Meh. *shrugs*

Anyhow, as a fellow INTP (if random internet tests, etc. can be trusted), I'm just saying "hi."

Okay, so I'm going to stop writing before I start sounding even more like a moron.

*slinks away*

Hi matthew :)

I think that's the first time I've seen someone do a ninja vanish, outside of a movie ;)
*well done - clapping*

Meh.

You know, I invented that term in that context.

1983. I was 13 and hanging on a street corner with a few friends and I mentioned to one of them that my cat was going around the house saying "Meh" instead of "Meow". This other kid gets all excited because his cat is doing the same exact thing and we spend the rest of the summer saying "Meh" in the same intonation as our cats.

Pretty boring sofar.

Now, the whole evolution of the word takes place by way of a couple of ENTP types in our clique who went to Boston Latin with me and they found a million ways to use this word with their band friends and goth friends and other school-type geek avenues. A million ways to use a word equals a totally quick burnout and within a few months, whenever someone said "Meh", it was in a tired, complacent way.

It stuck in that form.

I have yet to figure out which one (or ones) of the Boston Latin nerd crew went on to Harvard and eventually spread the term to the Harvard-based Simpsons writers who hailed from there, but I can sometimes pick out some other wacky gags that I recognize from my old crew that made their way into Simpsons episodes.

True story.

Okay, now that I'm feeling less insecure, I suppose I should say a little bit about me..

I'm a 23 year old male from Minnesota, attending college for computer science and math. I'm a fan of computers (especially programming), mathematics, video games, watching anime, playing RPGs, and playing Magic: The Gathering. So, in many ways I definately fall under the category of "typical nerd."

I haven't read too much about MBTI, but the tests I've taken usually peg me at INTP, and I have to say that the description of the type definately seems spot on. It definately explains a lot of my quirks.

Welcome. You have good hobbies. I happen to know several Minnisconsoners online, and in my experience they're all crazy in a good way. Must be something in the air.
