Are any of you located in Chicago? I would potentially be up for meeting some other INTPs in person.

My family lives in the Chicago area, so if I come back from college I'd be around there. It would only be in a few months, though, if at all.

If you come into town PM me and we can talk about getting together for a drink, conversation, board game, whatever.

No offense, but your name makes me worry that I'd catch encephalitis from you should we meet.

Alas, another arena where everyone will flee from me. I guess I'll have to come back to the forum in disguise.

MadamI'madaM

ever been there?

if yes

ever been to phoenix?

EDIT: if both, then we differ too fundamentally to hold any common values/assumptions

Never been to either and don't know why I'd want to or not want to. Care to elaborate?

the food alone is enough, but there are literally enough things to do in chicago on any given night to occupy all the digits of your average downstate illinois inbred.

phoenix has maybe 10 bars worth half a shit(Bill O'Reilly bullshit number), which I can't even get into.
unless you've got a hard on for the sports teams (not nearly as good as chicago's), there really isn't much in AZ unless you enjoy desert hikes. the landscape is pretty, but the novelty wears off after the first few years. After that you're stuck with a city that's horribly planned aesthetically with zero culture. I mean, only mormons and cowboys lived out here before air conditioning. I personally like snow, although the summertime humidity of chicago is pretty fucked.

A majority of the greater phoenix metro area is lower middle class suburbia. just pretty lame.

Scottsdale has nothing on the yuppie areas of chicagoland or the nice downtown shopping areas, if you're into such stuff.

I mean, it's considered right behind NYC as far as shit-to-do and all around kick assness

shit to do? sounds like attractors of masses. people suck even worse in crowds.

I dunno, somehow they seem to notice you less when you're a smaller fraction of the mass.

i'm a small-town hick, terrified of big cities.

It's pretty easy to blend in; when you are in a crowd.

I agree that Chicago is awesome; lived there the last several years... I miss it :(

Edit: The food in Chicago was amazing. I constantly ate at different places, compared & reviewed stuff. Ahh; Polish Sausages grilled with a pickle and mustard and and and omg...

Honestly, I have to say: I've eaten better and more authentic Mexican in Chicago. It might have had to do with the fact that it was cuisine from a different state/province than Sonora.(which is over represented in AZ)

I'll add my vote to the kick-assness of Chicago, beautiful fun city.

I lived in a Mexican neighborhood in Chicago for the last year and a bit that I lived there. Y'know scary gangs and stuff, shootings, etc. The food totally made it worth it !

Thread necro time!

I've been sitting here in the northwestern Chicago suburbs all summer so far, feeling vaguely lonely since I don't know anyone in the area, and just today realized that INTPC would be a great place to try and find people to hang out with.

So! Anyone in Chicago and up for some hang-out-age? Hit me up on AIM (pksage88), though I'll try and remember to check this topic.
