View Full Version : VAK Test

This test is designed to determine whether you are a visual, auditory or kinesthetic learner. I imagine there has to be a superior test out there to the one I've found, but, for now, try this test (http://www.vaknlp.com/vak.htm).

So, I answered more questions as 'auditory' (5 vs. 3), but my result is visual. Must have something to do with the mean profile correlations I guess.

I was visual - but I wish I was audial:

1. audial

audial is that cool guy you see chillin in an irc channel. Not many people know this but he's an expert on one-armed midgets, especially those in the porn industry.

Visual here.

For some reason I turn out as heavily kinesthetic, even if I've always tested as much more audial and most visual.

This profile is then probably visual!

I did enjoy this response... "then probably" soooo INTP.

Visual.

Though only 3 visual answers and 5 audial.

I had the same thing; I don't get it.

Though if I change the petting answer, I get visual.

It said it couldn't profile me though.

I tied visual and kinisthetic. I can see that.

VAK is wack.

That test was not well calibrated to select the kinds of things appropriate to the different learning styles, or at least the answers weren't clear enough to do so. For example on the 'Your Influence' question, I am neither persuasive or egaging of people's feelings, so that really just leaves presenting an attractive image, which I am also unsure about. I don't think its clear what the question is asking or what the answers mean.

I think this one (http://www.vark-learn.com/english/page.asp?p=questionnaire) is better. They have an extra category (R for Read/Write) which is prolly most me, tho I test "multimodal" - V as well as R.

Kanamori
22 Mar 2007, 04:48 AM
Well, with that one I got 9 aural and 6 read/write...

However, when it comes to something more complicated like philosophy, I prefer to see the argument on a concept map rather than the text, or at least see the concept map first...

The VAK says Kinesthetic. Hmm.

On s0's test:

Visual: 9
Aural: 8
Read/Write: 6
Kinesthetic: 13

Yeah. My parents used to joke that little meshou had to "montessori" everything. Pick it up and hold it and fiddle with it so I could figure it out.

I still do that. I'm very touch-oriented.

Wow, I just took that test and it says I'm aural, when I've always considered myself to be very visual. Instead of discarding the idea and moving onto something else, I clicked on study strategies for aural learners. That's me! :blink: I realize now that perhaps the reason why I've tried to deny this for so long is because I've been shy for most of my life, and speaking to people, asking questions, explaining my point of view, has always been difficult because I'd feel overwhelmed by my social phobia, even in small groups. Over the past few years I've reverted this to a certain extent because of the jobs and activities I choose for myself. But it's still there, just better controlled. Who knew a little online test was actually not gonna be a complete waste of time?

In fact I'm starting to realize just how crazy it is to consider myself visual. It's not my primary way of absorbing information. I pay more attention to someone's tone of voice than I do to the expression on their face. I walk down the street relying on the sounds around me to make sure I'm going the right way. I never remember what someone's wearing; at any moment during a conversation you could tell me to close my eyes and describe what you're wearing - I won't even remember the colors. Hmm. Gonna go think about this.

I got 3/4/3 on that first test. Doesn't seem very useful to me.

"This profile cannot be defined from our database. Please change 1 or 2 answers!"

I selected the answers that seemed most applicable to me. I would say this isn't a good test.

yep, I used to have to hand out a similar test when I taught at this rinky dink tech college. I never got into the theory much, but part of the pedagogy was to deliver the information repetitively in all formats, with students keying into their learning styles. Can't speak to how effective it all was, but at least I could have no bones about failing the fuckers if they didn't get it after 4 diff presentations of the same shiz.

First test seems a tad craptacular. Visual. (3/4/3)

Second test, I'm multimodal apparently:

* Visual: 10
* Aural: 3
* Read/Write: 12
* Kinesthetic: 9

Visual and Read/Write are no surprise. Kinesthetic, however, is.

I had to change at least four answers just to get it to give me an answer, so I don't know how accurate it is because many of the answers are now false, but I got auditory.

Huh. For Hustler's, I got:

Auditory - 8
Visual - 2
Kinesthetic - 0

For s0's, I got:

-Visual: 9
-Aural: 4
-Read/Write: 12
-Kinesthetic: 10

At least one of these tests is poorly constructed.

On the test s0532 posted, I got:
* Visual: 12
* Aural: 7
* Read/Write: 15
* Kinesthetic: 8

It seems to be more accurate than the original one that was posted.
