Heh. The first one was my old desktop for a few months. I was going through some backups and found it. Enjoy. :)

I'm a big fan of the "sky on fire" sunsets, the house I'm living at right now gets them about once a week during the summer, and the rest of the nights aren't bad either.

I was running a doggy bag of food out to my car last night and saw the ultimate sunset - rays through the clouds, reds enhanced because of the smog on a hot summer day, fields, mountains, etc...

Of course, no camera on hand. :(

The first one reminds me of AZ. It could easily be set near my grandmothers' old house.

Of course. :)

The first one is taken on 96th Ave...near the Westminster mall. The second is up on 136th and Federal/Zuni.

Re: AZ

I have a couple sunsets taken from the eastern Phoenix area on film...I wonder where those went...

I wondered whether or not those were from AZ. Living in Phoenix does have some advantages in terms of sunsets. Ah.. and with the monsoon season, very tasty indeed.

I know it. I grew up there.

Ah yes, the Westminster mall, I think we have a couple of people who reside in CO (yes, counting me), I just wish we could get in more rain so there can be more rainbows ^O^

Here are a few from Arizona. They were taken during a monsoon storm at sunset.

Hmm...I took this one out the side of the car while driving 80 mph, so it didn't turn out exactly as I wanted, so I toyed around with the saturation in Photoshop - something I usually prefer to aviod (editing my own pictures).

Melody, that picture made me want to cry, which is good, nostalgia is a great muse and I love it.

Heh. I have no artistic ability to fake these things. :)

Actually, I think I over-saturated a tad and they look less real. Hmph.

Do you ever look out to the McDowell Mountains and wonder who painted them there? I used to think that when I was growing up (in AZ)...I haven't noticed much when I go back though as the city has grown so much...the mountains are pretty dull from my parent's house these days. Smog, mostly.

But the Gov. does...

I realize, this may be a touchy subject, but the pictures I took were with a non-professional Cannon S300 (junk), however they were not photo-chopped. I was refering to the fact (based on my own first-hand observation) that the "clouds" in the pictures I took were actually made from an airplane, whether or not you call them a condenstation trail or a chemical trail.....

I have been coming out here since I was 6 yrs. old, which would mean since 1975, and have noticed the "drastic" changes over the years. Believe it or not, I/we used to race cars at the Scottsdale airport during off hours. But, yeah, to me, all of the desert "images" look painted to me. The desert seems surreal; it's one of the many attractions, if not for the sunsets alone.

I think your pics look badass.

I don't do much editing either, outside some auto-contrast, light saturation, and the like. I could buy film for my N80 that does the same...but I prefer the instant gratification of my digital. :)

It's only been within the last month that I've become interested in photography and have taken your advice from other threads into consideration (filed it),....once the motivation comes around towards the effort, your thoughts will be included.
