I know, I know. Neither is great. I'm just asking for a gun to the head opinion, here; if you had to choose one, which would it be? I've started this in the INTP forum because only INTP votes are interesting to me.

I'll just take the bullet, thanks.

Precisely why I didn't list that as an option! That's the answer I'd expect from most INTPs. So, in your case, let's say it's a gun to a loved one's head decision.

Early '90s Chili Peppers (except for "Under the Bridge") Actually, I think they're underrated. Their funk rock kicked ass, back in the day.

Both suck now, but at least there was a time when the Chili Peppers were good.

I stopped liking the chili peppers after listening to californication for a while. I've read this is fairly common for this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Californication_%28album%29#Sound_quality) reason. Pretty much all of their music kind of grates on my nerves now.

Chili Peppers for sure. Both were kind of revolutionary in their own way but in the end the Chili Peppers did a lot more (positive) for music than Offspring did. I still occasional look forward to listening to an old Chilis album whereas Offspring's playability to a massive nose-dive after my 12th birthday. The only Offspring album that I think back on a little positively is Ignition (though I still haven't listened to it in probably seven or eight years now) and some of their recent stuff I've heard, long after I stopped paying attention to them, is absolutely despicable.

I dont like any RHCP songs, they're boring as shit, but there are at least half a dozen songs of The Offspring that I love.

I'm going to have to go with the Offspring, but only because when I listen to Pretty Fly for a White Guy I'm actually hearing Weird Al's version...

Red Hot Chilli Peppers for me. Their music was used by the CIA to torture Islamist detainees :highfive:

Well, let me reply this way: I've acquired RHCP songs, and only have a 25kb/s mono .mp3 of two or maybe three offspring. Yes I liked their first single, but it got old almost as fast as 'pretty fly' got pretty old.
Offspring have cute songs, but RHCP -- especially the newer stuff, it moves me. Complex, and yes a little bit mild. OK a lot mild. I choose to listen to RHCP and don't choose offspring.

I dont even like 'pretty fly' and I dont like a couple of their singles, but I like more of their songs than RHCP and they dont make me attempt to choose between falling asleep and gouging my eardrums with a rusty machete.
edit: RHCP are the Jack Johnson of metal

Musically, RHCP are way better than The Offspring. I don't really like either, but RHCP have had their moments. Californication is pretty fun to sing at Karaoke.

I'd rather listen to Offspring than RHCP, so that's that. Both are bands that started off okay, got pretty good, and declined in ye olde latere yearse.

Dude, I thought it was over between us? Torture isn't very cool, and neither is the CIA.
I don't know enough about either band.

Not even if I help you torture Michael Hayden, the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency? :smooch:

But I love cranking the RHCP up to full volume when one of my neighbours is hosting a Quran party. And hey, didn't you justify theft once (and were actually being serious about it)? [/counter-accusation] :P
But seriously, that was just my random anti-Islamic cheap shot of the month. Back to strumming then... http://www.intpcentral.com/uploads/guitardude.gif

Perhaps it's time for a new thread (http://forums.intpcentral.com/showthread.php?t=20430) to clear things up in this department.

Yes, we shall have a grand time there, thank you.

Old Offspring > New Offspring.
Old RHCP > New RHCP.
But, while I think they should both either a) go back to their roots or b) quit, I know that one day RHCP will eventually run out of songs to sing about california.

Offspring. At least they're not constantly grinded into my mind on TV, radio, internet...

Yeah, I voted for The Offspring, cause I think their songs are more fun.
Say what you want about RHCP, though... Mother's Milk was a solid album, and "Soul to Squeeze" has brilliant bass work.
