I've been looking at degree options since I'm so ready to be done with school and found that a local university has an accelerated program for working adults. The classes are at night and on the weekends and you can finish at a very quick rate (yay!). I have about half the hours needed for a degree already, so hopefully I can be done quickly.

Anyway, the specific degree I'm looking into is on this page: http://www.stedwards.edu/newc/pace/csm/index.htm

As far as what is taught as well as the certifications you earn, do you guys think this looks like a good program? What would be the salary potential?

My first suggestion would be to go through your paper, monster.com and hotjobs.com and find out how many jobs are in your area for this field. Then find of those jobs, how many are entry level, and what they consider minimum experience for an entry level position.

I did a few checks in Austin for DBA type jobs, the ones that I did find were looking for 5+ years of experience. There doesn't seem to be a very large demand for Entry Level DBAs. I found one entry level programmer job for 35-45k in Austin.

In addition, the IT industry is VERY COMPETITIVE. You are talking a minimum of 200+ resumes per job, no matter what the job is and how much they are offering. Many people who graduate don't find work right away, or ever in their chosen field.

To answer the question, the curriculum looks fine. Looks pretty standard to me.
