Hey why not? I made midis all throughout high school, and got pretty good at making some weird metal/video game music hybrid by the end of it.
http://home.utah.edu/~u0297683/midi/Awaken/ : Best and latest effort, although its actually a few years old now.
http://home.utah.edu/~u0297683/midi/ : Directory which contains most of what I've done.
Unfortunately with midis, your soundcard will drastically effect the way you listen to this. Some of the instruments may be too quiet, some too loud, and some simply inappropriate in the first place depending on your sound card. Overall though you can generally get the picture.
I also create some form of black metal, but we can leave that alone for now at least.

Wow, I never thought I would ever hear anything close to rock come from midi.
I can tell that you spent a bunch of time with these, but for results like these?
(not a problem with the music necessarily, but the medium; think painting a masterpiece in the mud)

I like "A Slilent Universe". See what you can do about hiring a symphony.

Thanks for the comments. As to lexiphanics reply, I really do see through the aesthetic because I've been doing it so long. I'm not into music production: I just have no clue how to do it. I'd like to figure it out, but as of yet I've found little on the net as far as guides go in that regard.
And Ascending, I'll get cracking on that ; ). But if I did hire a symphony for a night, I'd probably write some new stuff specifically for the symphony. I wonder how much that costs...

I make digital ambient music (and some trance/experimental). It is all a rather spontaneous process for some reason. If it sounds good to me, then on to the next layer of sound. I abhor words in most songs because I am often using music in the background, and it just bugs my internal process. In the car I will usually tolerate words. I can remember music almost perfectly, except that words usually get translated into their pitch, and lose language meaning. That is because I am listening to music, not someone speaking (different functions for me). Rap music bugs the crap out of me for obvious reasons.

I'll do one album at a time.
Psychology of Trance:
Gamma Radiation - I really like the variation on a theme element. Lots of layers. I felt like it was going to break into something you'd hear on a dance floor at any second, but it didn't.
Cyberbrain - It made me feel like I was secluded in an underground cave, with a lake. Kind of like Gollum's domain in the Hobbit. Simplistic, but beautiful. Very tranquil and relaxing.
Metaphysical - Kind of reminded me of the structure of Complication from NIN's album, The Fragile...just without the break into the dance beats during the middle. I really like it.
Nova - It made me feel like I was in a high-speed car chase, the cops hot on my trail during the beginning. Then I get away and feel relieved...but then they catch up again. I realize there's no way I'm going to escape, so I decide to stop. Then there's that whole part where it sounds like a mexican standoff, which made me think to get out of the car and face the cops, who have their guns drawn. I have my hand on my gun, ready to draw and let them blast me into oblivion...letting the tension build until I can't stand it any longer. Then I draw my gun and get pelted by a barrage of gunfire.
Slip-into-Subconscious - Made me think of one of those nights where you're bored to death and exhausted, but you can't sleep because you hear something weird and think something bad is about to happen. So, you're up all night looking out through the windows and seeing nothing but complete darkness and hearing nothing but complete silence...but yet you still feel threatened and sleep never comes.
