I would truly love spell check.

Me, too! I always feel the need to write a disclaimer. I seems to be the worst offender.

I would be too lazy to use it.... ahem.

If we all stick to words we are sure we know how to spell...

...then we'll never spell anything very interesting.

I would be too lazy to use it, too. Mistakes are exciting.

a spell checker is a neat concept but if spelling is so important to you, wouldn't you be spell checking your posts(in a word processor) before posting them?

I used to use a word processor for the majority of my posts, but now I only will for long ones, which are rare.

Yes! It's so exhausting to reach for the dictionary and take the chance I might get distracted as to any before unknown meanings of the word "heiarchy"... :D

I have a spell checker in Firefox. I just highlight and right click.

Amazing what you can get in Firefox. Here's a thread about a Greek version. :D :hello: :D
Firefox in Greek (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=93760)

Actually I'm about to move up to 0.9.3, a few days after my last version. Having destroyed some of my folders in my profile first, I'm actually hopeful of getting the extensions to work again...

Hee hee... thanks Claverhouse, this is useful... to me, at least :D

Well...I do write in Word and then copy here if I post something long, but since other forums I am on have a spell check I just found it convenient. Spelling was always my worst subject.

I'd rather use my wordprocesser than in in-board version- I'd forgotten this thread was in the sugestions forum when I posted. If there was an online chcker I'd probably not use it...

edit I just realized that I never posted my original post, and my "sorry, I forgot" line would be incomprihensible to anyone but me.

Mozilla and Firefox are completely unaffected by many security issues that exploit flaws exclusive to Microsoft's competing Internet Explorer. Also, unlike Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Firefox cannot install spyware on your system just by visiting a website, nor can they be crashed by code present on certain pages. Mozilla Mail will not allow a worm or virus to execute automatically, and JavaScript is disabled by deafult within the mail window as a safeguard against malicious code in e-mails.

Interesting what one finds from hanging around this forum. I remember the good old days when Apple IIE's were several grand a pop, there was no such thing as icons to click with a mouse, and BASIC was the high-school code of choice...ouch...

Don't use spellcheck very often, but when I do I use a word processor. I would appreciate a spellcheck on the site, though.

Unlike many of the fellow INTPs, I couldn't give a damn about spelling errors.
I never worried about it before this forum, why start now?

Differences are what make life interesting. If we all wanted the same thing it would be a very boring world indeed!
I often type fast and my eyes aren't what they used to be so I like the convenience of spell check.
Hey some like vanilla and some like chocolate and some another flavor all together.

It's not that I care about others, I just don't want one more thing to make me look like an idiot. My posts are always so littered with type-o's I'm about to blame a technology glitch.

Why not add spell check?..

My spell check keeps highlighting the word "embarassed" spelled exactly the way i just did there. I can't think how else it would be spelled. Haven't had time/forget to look it up. It seems to do OK everywhere else. K

Why not add spell check?..
Because it's easier to tell people to learn to spell.

I have to cut and paste practically every post into my email program to spell check and then back again...

Hey, if that's what it takes...

"You" can be assured, regardless. We have several "spell checkers", as well as "grammar checkers" etc., and so on. ;P
