Hi,

I became aware of MBTI and my INTP:ness a couple of months ago, and find the whole system of profiling people quite fascinating. At first I was somewhat unsure whether I was an INTP or an INTJ, since on some online tests the result for me was INTJ. However, the more I read about the INTP profile, the more certain it became to me that I had to be an INTP. It was actually a bit scary how accurately it described my personality.

I discovered this forum and have been reading posts already some time ago. For some reason I just wanted to become acquainted before posting myself (probably typical INTP). Anyway, I'm a 22 year old guy from Finland who studies engineering at the university.

My major is systems and operations research (applied math). It's great for me since I don't want to focus only in one narrow subject (you can apply the same theory in various contexts).

Welcome. :) So you're studying engineering? I go to college next year and am thinking about studying to become a mechanical engineer. It is either that, or an automotive journalist.

bmw: I knew a mech. engineering grad who had a hell of a time finding work in the field. I'd imagine your other choice could serve you quite well.

I studied mech eng. it was too prescriptive to my creativity... I should have done something like history or philosophy. Gave it up and was much happier.

On the plus side for you, there were only two girls for about 50 guys in the mech eng set I was in. Or maybe that isnt a plus!

the good thing about an engineering degree is that you can get a lot of different sorts of jobs with it. I am not really doing all that much engineering with my engineering degree, but I definitly needed the piece of paper to get it. Eng is a good all encompassing education.

ps: yioooo and welcome to this virual place

I have always been a writer.. so I am seriously considering doing that instead. As a reporter or something like that I'd get to travel a lot as well, which is important, because I get bored very easily. I need a job that isn't monotonous. I don't know what I will do with my life.

You only posted three times ! I thought, at the time, that we'd find out more about this... *sigh* ( I'd like to know more... since I'm a non-mathematician who enjoys maths... *hopeful look* -- or anything else, since math-people seem to tend to think about interesting things ? )

Hi there, welcome. Nice to see another European on the forum. One of my close friends is Finnish. Finns are cool. Which part of Finland are you from?

Ok, I must admit that I've been too passive lately... or to be precise... ever since I signed in the first time and posted those 3 posts :) I've been reading other posts quite regularly however. (There was a thread about how some people just keep reading and don't bother to post some time ago)
