There has been lots of different music threads going on. I'd like to start one that is a bit different. Hopefully you aren't completely sick of music threads by now.

If you've never been to archive.org it is a good way to blow a few hours. Plenty of interesting stuff. One section in particular is the music section:

http://www.archive.org/audio/audiolisting-browse.php?cat=5

Is there anything on there you would actually download and listen to? If so, what bands (urls). This could give people a better idea of the style of music you like. Or if one of your favorite bands has MP3 downloads how about providing a link to them?

So far I really like

"Aphilas" (the dubbed coil of smoke)
http://www.archive.org/audio/audio-details-db.php?collection=miasmah&collectionid=mia049

"Calm Be" (Undertone)
http://www.archive.org/audio/audio-details-db.php?collection=sofasound&collectionid=sof001

"Supine" (Blond but Dark)
http://www.archive.org/audio/audio-details-db.php?collection=miasmah&collectionid=mia039

and (not not archive.org)
"TSpigot" (Hypnotic)
http://tspigot.net/music/Hypnotic.mp3

http://tspigot.net/music/

I think it would be nice to listen to some of your music tastes without having to go by obscure band names like "Christ Analogue", "Front 242" and "Manufactura". Also, I'd like to know what songs are your favorites, especially if the web links you provide has hundreds of MP3s.

So how about an MP3 only music thread?

I liked the "Tspigot" best, and then "Aphilas" next best. "Aphilas" had a drifty rhythm, but no overlay. I didn't think the basic rhythm by itself was intresting enough to sustain the length of the piece. Some of the others were not drifty enough, and, though technically considered "down tempo" seemed pretty upbeat. Not that much "layering" going on either. I really appreciate a link to hear the music for free. I'm afraid i don't have time to look up any for my favorite down tempo types. DJ Krush and DJ Logic are nice, as is Portishead. Some Burnt Sugar pieces are nice too. Not that everything by these artists is downtempo or tasty. "Final Home" is an example of a great DJ Krush "chill" song which can still inspire movement vs. total chill/veg out.
