I just wanted to say "OMG".

I had written a post regarding being an INTP and queried the MBTI's of the people that frequent my blog. Even went so far as to link to the profile on INTP's here at intpcentral.com. But, I only recently discovered the forums.

It's like finding out I am not a complete freak of nature. I've only been perusing the threads for about 30 minutes but I've already come across others having the same feelings of failure, weird "zoning out" during personal conversations, the odd vampiric sleeping cycle I adopt when I have more than 2 days off.

I know my post is probably far from original and I likely won't get any responses, but that's ok. It's just utterly amazing to realize that all of the time I have spent thinking I was just some freakin' dwarf with ADHD and no social skills, I could have been a part of a community of like-minded weirdo's who were like kin to me.

Ok, shutting up now. Back to reading....er it's 7:30 in the morning and I meant to be asleep 5 hours ago. *sigh*

nah....do I perceive....selfdoubts?? no need...
but maybe the constant doubting of oneself is part of the INTPness...

anyway, looking forward to read from you, sleep tight and

Welcome :hello:

PS: where are you from?

Even stranger than the vampiric sleep.... all this week I've gotten to bed before 9PM.

*fears for his sanity because sudden normality*

Welcome to the forum!

PS: where are you from?

I lied, no beddie-by for me.

Six - PS: I am from Illinois - vaguely near Chicago. ;)

Thanks for the welcome Division. Just remember: sometimes it's nice to be normal for a change.

Welcome. I joined just a few days ago, and this forum is addictive. I've always felt like the odd one out, but this forum really makes me feel.. at home I guess. I never thought that anyone could understand the ways that I feel.. but everyone here is very similar to me, and it's cool. So, welcome, I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.

You're the sixhundreth (?) member on this board. Congrats to you!!!

I only arrived here 2-3 weeks ago and there were only 570 members. That means there are 2 or 3 new INTP's dropping in each day. WOW! How the fuck is that happening?

Wow, I wasn't expecting such a warm and gracious reception. I feel soooooo....well...I'm kinda sleepy actually, and I've never been one for mushy speeches.

Swift - I found the site via google when I was doing research for the blog entry on my personality type.

Ok, 11:30...I REALLY need to get some sleep.

Welcome Anathematized! :hello:

I've read your other posts - I'm looking forward to more :)

Edit : forgot to ask : Do you do the blue bag, recycling, thing ? ;)

And, are you in the pro-smiley, anti-smiley, or indifferent group ?
(I love this one : :smooch: ... but there are too few times when I can use it. *sigh*)

PS: love the Pooh-quote you added... as I'm once more trying to justify doing nothing... before myself of course :p

Hello.

I imagine you will be on quite a bit today given the weather.

You have a great avatar too.

Clara - First of all, thank you for the encouragement. Unfortunately, I cannot answer your "blue bag, recycling thing" question because I have no idea what you are referring to. Care to clarify or direct me to a thread describing this phenonomenon? Re: the smilies I would have to say a happy juxtaposition of indifferent and anti. I tried using a couple on here, but find them too colorful and distracting for my tastes. When using smilies, I prefer the symbolic representations over the graphical ones. The latter seem to be in such jarring contrast to the text that it really takes away from it....Not sure if I am explaining this particularly well. (Just woke up and haven't taken my morning whizz yet.)

Six - It has become a way of life since my employer underwent downsizing due to lack of work. (Gawd, has it only been a week???) I lounge around in my pj's, watch tv, look up topics of interest on the internet, and sleep and wake up when I wanna. My only annoyance is, with all of this time on my hands I want to go to the friggin' library, but that would require manual labor (clearing off massive quantity of snow from my weeee little car).

Mgbradsh - Thank you re: the avatar. It's a pic I created not too long ago. I think you're the first person to actively notice and compliment it since I posted it on my blog in mid-December.

Anathematized1, I suspected that might be your view of them, but wanted to know.

I agree with you, regarding "writing in paragraphs" - and I like some of these emoticons, when they can replace non-verbal messages (not just emotion). Since we've been talking about them lately, I wondered what your preference was.

The blue bag question was a truly idle question, only because I had recently seen a website referring to Illinois recycling facilities - and because this morning I saw a thread had been started on "habits of INTPs" and was thinking of household chores.
*laughter* It really was just another way of saying, "How are things going for you this weekend?"

Something you may or may not know about people posting here : a lot of the time many of us try to avoid redundancy... so, it'll happen sometimes (often) that one person will post something, and others will nod (literally) at our monitors - or, think, or talk, without posting or messaging the thought. You'll see for yourself. :) (Your avatar is striking.)

Ahhhhh! Clara, I apologize for not understanding your blue bag reference. I do not handle the recycling chores of the household. To be honest, I am lucky to get my pop cans rinsed and placed into "the bag" (makes Twilight Zone sounds). As long as the magical recycling fairy does his job I am not particularly cognizant of our recycling laws/procedures beyond "put stuff in the blue bin on garbage day".

Btw, I have had a weekend which would do Pooh proud (see my signature).

Ohhhh, I do those often. I feel more conversational and social with my monitor than I do with people face-to-face. 'Tis one of the reasons I went into Computer Science, lol. (Thank you. I figure it's pretty symbolic. How much more alone can you be than dancing in a desert wearing a ball gown?)

hm. somehow it doesn't look that alone...there is the sun with her... don't know where that thought came from... maybe some repressed metaphysical streak

oh... and the blue bags are called yellow bags in germany. I mean... the bags are yellow... and everybody's been seperating garbage for years... knowing that they probably just throw everything together at the end of garbage day and don't recycle anything... doesn't stop anybody from doing it though... probably because you get this I-do-something-useful-for-the-environment-feeling.
I BET that's the just kind of information you were after, clara ;)

Actually, Six, she is inherently alone (as in separated from others). I purposefully made no sentient beings visible in the vicinity. But, she is not lonely. When I created this picture, I was consciously aware of her having the tactile sensation of the sand between her toes, the aural whisper of the wind, the scents of the desert, the warmth of the sun, and her thoughts to keep her company - and to give her fulfillment.

BTW, loved our visit to Köln when my friends decided on a day-trip during my school days in the Nederlands. Especially enjoyed the Chocolate Museum and the delicious beer. Whereabouts in Germany are you from?

Six! It was! *Finally, someone understands.* ;) :D

Anathematized, if you have photos to share (of travels, or other kinds) - or want to see photos others have taken, there are threads in the Atelier forum...
